Yeah it was ridiculous all that chanting. Oddly I couldn't tell what was different about the ending in the extended cut though.

IIRC the original ending before they changed it for the theatrical release was Laurie hearing Michael kill Karen over the phone. Did that get put back in?

Apologies I actually pressed the wrong thing and the extended cut wasn't playing last night. For some reason, Apple TV on amazon firestick and my laptop doesn't work properly. Just tried it on my phone and saw the alternative ending.
Yes her phone rings as Laurie calls her daughter but Michael picks up and just breaths heavily down the phone at which point Laurie tells him that shes coming for him

That does sound the better final scene.

I have rewatched all 3 Die Hards over Christmas and have changed by rankings from 3>1>2 to 1>3>2. Whilst 3 is the first one I saw so was my favourite for quite a while, I think 1 is a tighter movie overall. I also think 2 is under appreciated.

Die Hard 9/10

Die Hard 2 8/10

Die Hard with a vengeance 8/10

It's a Wonderful Life 9/10: This was great, poor George. Going in I thought the last 30 minutes or so would be the whole/largest part of movie but it's the other way around.

Spiderman No Way Home 8/10: May have had a slightly lower score due to my cinema experience full of unruly children who seemed to want to talk through the whole thing and parents who wouldn't shut them up. Not a huge fan of what they did with Ned.

This is the weirdest thing about the film the first time you watch it. I don't know how the film critics at the time of original release thought it was overly sentimental when the majority of the movie is listing how terrible George's life is. It's a fantastic movie, I stupidly avoided it for years because I was expecting it to be extremely saccharine.

I watched it's a wonderful life for the first time at Christmas. I really enjoyed it though I would struggle to call it a Christmas film.

Suicide Squad (2021) - 7

Much better than the first and has some decent action and larfs. Felt more could have been done with polka dot man. A bit confused about the state of the DCEU now though. Is it dead? What’s canon and what’s just one and done stuff.

It's going to get even more confusing if the rumours about the Flash movie resetting the universe and replacing Ben Affleck with Michael Keaton are true

Aliens was on telly last night and I inevitably got drawn into watching it again. It wasn't even the Special Edition and it's still an easy 10 out of 10 movie.

I asked my other half which Alien film is best and she said 3. :fp:

Maybe It's a Wonderful life seemed saccharine at the time because we're all used to happy endings, and

the fact that George doesn't end up in prison, and gets to live a seemingly nice life in the 1940s was pretty alien at least in times of the Great Depression, whilst now we have far more sympathy that he didn't get to live his best life, and we all wanted/expected Potter to be locked up.

I'd also say it's my favourite film of the 1940s, I don't really care for Citizen Kane (it's fine but not the best film of all time) and I think it's better than the Third Man & Casablanca. I guess the 40s are the first decade where film's hold up even today? Maybe the 1939 stuff, Wizard of Oz, Snow White. (Gone with the Wind?- not seen it myself.)

Need to watch the Maltese Falcon, also have Kind Hearts & Coronets on the list.

MHTL's other half is clearly an important species and I don't think you, I or anyone has the right to abitrarily broom her.

Just broom her.

Worry about relationship technicalities later.
