Zero Dark Thirty makes my skin crawl a little bit.

Not the worst propaganda movie I've seen though. That honour goes to American Sniper. A truly execrable movie.

The Report is a good tonic to Zero Dark Thirty, and actually based on the reality of what happened

I've seen it. :shifty:

ZDT, American Sniper and a few other films about the War on Terror that were made in that era suffer deeply for being made in a "true to life" style that suggests to audiences that they're seeing an adaptation of what actually happened. They aren't, in any way shape or form(In the interest of fairness, The Report also suffers from this a wee bit). Like, I have no issue with films taking liberties with the truth(it's legit impossible to make a genuinely true-life movie!) but the paratextual implication that "This actually happened!" does my nut in.

All perfectly serviceable and enjoyable if unspectacular.

Director being a propaganda merchant doesn't really excuse the film from being a piece of propaganda. :slol:

Although with that said, I do agree.

I still remember the mess that was Armageddon, should have been rated PG, because it contained Patriotic Garbage.

I've always liked Ben. He's not the greatest actor, but he's boinking Jennifer Lopez currently and was boinking Ana de Armas last year, so I guess his limited range isn't a major issue.

Ice Age 3 has finally been watched, which continues my marathon of all the films. It's an enjoyable one, even with all the logic-breaking that goes on with its own universe. A lot more adventure focused with the rescuing of Sid that the plot uses to take everyone down to the realm of the dinosaurs. Still a lot of great character interactions and moments here, and Buck is such a loveable weasel.

Also a film rating,

Guns Akimbo 6/10

After wanting to watch it last week and not being able to find it anywhere, this week despite not originally wanting to watch it, it popped on Amazon Prime.

Whilst the reviews were average, I was a bit disappointed. The villain just seemed wrong tonally. Perhaps being massively hammy opposed to menacing? Was amusing in places, but was disappointed that Daniel Radcliffe had an American accent. I just wanted to see Harry Potter shoot people.

Tomorrow War - should have been a videogame/10

Holy gooseberry fool, this was so badly written. So many issues with this, but I think the part that annoyed me most was how they didn't didn't put crash mats out for the people teleporting back and let them land on concrete instead.

Such a stupid film :slol:

It felt to me like the film was rushed. It had the potential to be so much better. The cast is good, the basic storyline is fine, the CGI and film quality is decent.

It feels like no on proof read the script, or thought from consequences of characters decisions etc.
