What I particularly liked about that movie was that it was pretty much a prequel. Anderson straight out of rookie Psi school, the old world still having a presence in Megacity, and the criminals not knowing who Dredd was with only the corrupt judges who arrive on the scene having any idea of what kind of a man Dredd was.

Halloween Kills - 5/10; some good special effects but my god terrible acting dies tonight! I can’t decide who was worse; Jamie Lee Curtis, Will Patton, Big John and Little John or Tommy [probably Tommy]. Though not as bad as some of the other films with the moniker Halloween and looking forward to the next one still.

Venom 2 - 4/10 - it felt like a terrible cash-in with too much try hard comedy. The CGI looked ropey, the villans were awful. The first film got the balance right this was all played for laughs, the odd couple symbiote edition.

Saw Halloween Kills last night.

It was just Michael walking and killing extras left, right and centre. There’s zero plot at all. It’s brainless violence marred by terrible acting and script. A massive disappointment after the excellent film previously. Also it’s very predictable.

The only parts I like is the flashback scenes from 1978.

I'm not very familiar with the comics but it's good to know the context. I could have watched more like it and it's for sure a shame it didn't perform well enough to get a sequel or something.

There's a TV series in works that will be set in the same universe but Judge Dredd may not be the main character, although Karl Urban is in discussions to reprise the role.

The Green Knight 5/10- Take an interesting 20 minute story and turn it into a 2 hour plod. Not even sure it made that much sense in the end/or I missed expose because I ended up on my phone.

Gunpowder Milkshake 6/10- Very simple plot, very violent. It's not the Raid but it was alright.

The Courier 8/10- Maybe knock it down 1 if you don't share my interest in Cold War espionage, but I found it interesting and was saddened by the end

I mean, if you can't see the significance of that scene I don't know what to tell you.

Venom 2. Rubbish 3/10.

Poor script. Tired plot. Bad acting. Theyre not really hamming it up, theyre just bad. Tom hardy is rubbish - the way he plays the role just doesnt seem right, the schizo inner dialogue doesnt know if it wants to be funny or disturbing or serious. It just doesnt work for me. I didnt recognise Naomi Harris, but her delivery of the few lines she had was absolutely awful. Woody Harrelson is not believable at all in his role and just comes over as a dufus rather than a serial killer. Michelle Williams was good. There were a few laughs. Luckily its a a short film. A bit of an easter egg at the end is the highlight.

Dune: Part 1.

Great film that only had one negative for me
not seeing the guild navigators in the flesh
and was well worth the £18 it costs for Imax tickets  .

9.5/10 I'm super excited for part 2 which will obviously be set mostly in Luton.

Free Guy

Very silly but good fun. I think I am approaching the upper age bracket for getting some of the references and I think I knew who at least 2 of the YouTubers were.

Saw The Guilty on Netflix. Was okay I guess. I dunno, something about it didn't quite click for me. Possibly because Jake Gyllenhael's character is so unendearing.

I was sure there was going to be a final twist where she had killed Henry after he encouraged her to get the brick and attack him

Gladiator UHD - 9/10

The action scenes really pop, and market scenes look brilliant. Amazing score too.

Black Widow - 7

Enjoyed it more than I thought. Liked the sillyness of it. Though found the invulnerability of ScarJo, except for the very specific bit when she needed to be not invulnerable, to be a bit over the top though. I thought the tortured past staff was going to be really lame, but they didn't pull any punches with it, bit of a cop out with how it turned out though.

American Psycho 7/10

Probably about the 5th time I've seen this, and it was only on this viewing that I really understood just how interchangeable every character is, and how he gets always with what he does (the bits that were real anyway). Nobody knows who anyone is, people talk to each other and think they're talking to someone else, to the point where I'm assuming Paul Allen isn't Paul Allen at all and Bateman is mistaken himself.
