Enjoyed this quite a bit. Good performances all round. Story was quite impactful.

Also pleasantly surprised by His House. Way scarier than I was expecting.

The Vanishing (original) 10/10

Been a while since I've seen it. Still a beautifully made film with one of the greatest endings of all time. The main score if haunting and the slow set up for the ending is perfectly done.

Avengers infinity war - 10/10

Saw this multiple times at the cinema and it still hasn't lost any of its magic. Black Panther scenes really showed how perfect he was for the role. So many great moments but the final battles are the standout.

Set during the Mexican Revolution of the 1910s, the film tells the story of Juan Miranda, an amoral Mexican outlaw, and John Mallory, an ex-Irish Republican Army revolutionary. After they accidentally meet under less-than-friendly circumstances, Juan and John involuntarily become heroes of the Revolution despite being forced to make heavy sacrifices.

It is the second film of Leone's Once Upon a Time Trilogy, which includes the previous Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) and the subsequent Once Upon a Time in America (1984).[4] The last western film directed by Leone, it is considered by some to be one of his most overlooked films.

Something of a trademark move for the Muscles from Brussels, Van Damme does the splits a total of seven times in Bloodsport – that's more than in any JCVD movie before or since.

Oldboy 9.5/10
Incredible film, very tense and thrilling easily one of the best films I've seen.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service 8.5/10
Very underated Bond film, that was a nice mix of the usual spy stuff but also has a nice bit of character building to Bond. Lazenby was a pretty decent Bond, Diana Rigg was fantastic and Telly Savalas is an awesome Blofeld.

In the Name of the Father - 7/10

I wondered why DDL hadn't won Best Actor for this performance because it remains probably my favourite of his after Daniel Plainview. Then I discovered he was up against both Tom Hanks' in Philadelphia and Liam Neeson in Schindler's List. 1993 secretly one of the best years for films?

Creed II - 5/10

Major disappointment after really liking the first Creed. I found this mostly boring and it looks like the next film will only be more derivative of the Rocky saga instead of finding its own feet.

I See You - 8/10

Saw this on Netflix and thought it would be an average horror film but it is much better than that and more thriller than horror. To say too much would spoil it but it's full of tension and misdirection. Well worth a watch and best to go in blind.

The shining - 6/10. Great performances all round, but it almost gets to the point too quickly. Jack's descent in to madness happens almost immediately once they're at the hotel.

Doctor Sleep - 4/10. The only really god bits were the ones where they recreated places from the shining, which was superbly done, but stopped the film being able to stand on its own. A bit too in your face fantasy for my liking, I was expecting something a bit more psychological.

Gone Girl.

Very good.

Rosamund Pike is so hot in it I think I'd stay with her by choice even knowing what she did!

Moneyball - 8/10

I've no interest in American rounders, but enjoyed this movie.

Why does Brad Pitt have to be constantly eating and drinking in movies though? It was so distracting in Moneyball. :lol:

Moneyball is superb, such a great soundtrack too :wub:

Climax - 8/10

Watched this without knowing anything about it. Certainly wasn't expecting, from the opening scenes, for it to go in the direction it did. First time in ages I've had such a visceral response to watching a film. Noe's best since Irreversible. I'll need to watch it again before it disappears off All4.

In the Mouth of Madness - 8/10

Not Carpenter's best and easily the worst of his apocalypse trilogy. But even when he isn't on fire he is still Carpenter. Creature design is great and practical with a 90s vibe like Nightbreed. It also uses the same technique as The Church of showing a great monster design but just for a few seconds.

It builds to a good ending and it's pretty meta with its references and perspective.

It's also currently on YouTube and worth a watch for the strange feel of it all.

It was hilarious. I can't decide if my favourite bit was when Chucky wrote "strawberry float YOU BITCH" on the kid's homework or when the factory worker was murdered using a googly eye machine.
