Free Guy - 7/10

Enjoyed this a lot more than i thought i would after reading the reviews here, it kept my attention throughout and i found the whole thing to be a lot of fun.

Jungle Cruise - 5/10

This one was just ok, it wasn't a bad film by any means, but i just found the whole thing to be rather bland to the point where i almost fell asleep several times during it.

I watched the first 40 minutes of Dune from 1984 last night. It's certainly different. I'll probably continue on with it a bit more this evening.

Yeah, the 1984 Dune film doesn't really work - in a conventional sense - but visually I think it captures the books perfectly. It really feels like you're stepping into Herbert's vision. He advised Lynch during pre-production and filming.

Also, they shot a much better film I think - there's tons of lost footage - but the production company sliced it to bits and Lynch pretty much disowned it.

Right, I can see how having an understanding of the backstory/Dune universe (which I don't) can almost be seen as a prerequisite for watching the film!

I've still got this

It was so difficult, but I loved playing it.

Had some dreadful quality clips from the film in it too.

Nice.

The film has a very distinct atmosphere, that's for sure. I imagine the new one is probably a bit more 'accessible' to watch (not that I've seen it).

Halloween II (1981)

2/10

Had never seen it before. I never want to see it again.

Donald Pleasance had me in fits of laughter though with his "you don't know what death is" line. Also when he chased a child into the street who then got run over by a speeding car and then crushed into a parked van which immediately exploded, burning him alive.

I had low expectations and it was still bloody awful.

Spiderman 2 (Toby Maguire)

I've always enjoyed the Maguire Spiderman films. Alfred Molina is great as Doc Ock

7/10

Black Widow - glad I didn't bother venturing to the cinema for this as it definitely ranks among the lesser Marvel films. Dodgy CGI, bad accents, lackluster villain. Florence Pugh steals the show and could be good for the future MCU. 4/10

Tenet - 6/10

Nice action but the the plot seems to just be a very smug "oh I am so intelligent, lol you idiots will struggle to understand this!".

Bill and Ted Face The Music - 3/10

Meh.

Promising Young Woman. 8/10.

Really loved this film, down to the way it was shot and the bittersweet ending. Sadly it hasn't got the credit it deserves.

Didn't it get a bunch of nominations and win quite few awards?

Black Widow - 5/10

Pretty by the numbers but as enjoyable as most other MCU films. As everyone else seems to have said, Florence Pugh is the standout.

The Mitchells Vs the Machines

I haven't laughed and cried during a film this much in a long time, Sony managed to out-Pixar Pixar in terms of a good animated film with a story that also punches you right in the feels.

Pixar films are getting a little samey for me, certainly in terms of tone and style.

This was a breath of fresh air, loved the animation and the script was sharp.
