Pointless nonsense. A genuinely terrible film with so many bad crew decisions. None of the characters should have got past space interview stage.

What would it have had to do to earn a score of 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4?!

Yep, they really are the most stupid crew ever.
They wander about an unexplored alien planet with zero protective equipment and decide that sticking their faces into things is a fantastic idea.
The Alien isn't much better though as he's thick as pig gooseberry fool and the whole film feels like it a about a planet that turns everyone into gibbering simpletons.

Happy Death Day 2 U - 5

Still a fun concept with a compelling lead, but descends into a bit of a mush this time as there's no real point to the sequel. Has some nice moments with the mother but ultimately a disappointing follow up to the enjoyable original.

Aladdin 2019 - 9

Hard to imagine how Disney and everyone involved could have done a better job with this. Jasmine is the real star but everyone shines and Smith does a stand up job as genie. Jaffar is menacing the music is brilliant and the set pieces enthralling. Only knock a point off because there's a lot of samey sets and the magic stuff at the end (lack of Jasmine in the red dress in the hourglass) feels a bit flat compared to the original.

This was deeply creepy and disturbing. Wow, was not expecting it to be so good. I know critical opinion is that Get Out better, but I much preferred this. That ending as well, chills.

I watched it last night and I agreed what you said.

The 13th Warrior

Fun historical-fantasy romp set during the age of the Vikings and staring Antonio Banderas. Seen it a couple of times and always quite enjoyed it.

It was very good and tense all the way through. Enjoyable.

Hannibal 7/10- Bit more over the top than Silence but still compelling.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy - 6

I thought so when this first came out, not knowing the story beforehand, but they hard botched this. The casting and performances are absolutely bang on but the telling of the story is so appalling. At only 2 hours it has such little time to tell the twisting narrative, yet it ponders over such bollocks wanky shots for so long. They completely ruin the character of Peter Guillam, turning him into a simple errand boy and for some reason suggesting he’s gay, which I’m pretty sure is not in the book. Tarr’s role feels very confused and the whole conspiracy is made to feel awfully small by constantly making the Circus seem like a group of just a dozen people. The reveal of the mole is also arrived at with a pathetic limp, though the last 5 minutes is pretty good. No wonder they never got round to doing the rest of the trilogy.

Darkest Hour

Watched it Sunday night and was hugely underwhelmed. Gary Oldman was superb as always but the story was so wafer thin and so much of the history was glossed over. From an educational perspective, I felt like I didn't learn anything at all. For pure entertainment value, I felt bored and uninterested.

I know it's a very different film but Dunkirk told this story so much better than Darkest Hour. I actually felt something watching Dunkirk and Churchill's speech had real impact at the end of that film, whereas Darkest Hour's speech was a damp squib.

Wouldn't watch it ever again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone either.

I wanted to like it but then I saw an incongruous Sikh solider and it ruined the whole thing with its wokeness. Having a Sikh solider made it institutionally racist and I stormed out screaming "strawberry float YOU LILY ALLEN! YOU ARE THE REAL RACIST!"

I haven't actually seen the movie yet.

Dawn of the Dead (2004)

Always quite liked it as remakes go, but it could have done with more zombie buffets and walkers rather than runners.

Wrong war Jedi. We are talking about the Clone Wars not the Palpy wars that happened 20 years later.

Fortunately Churchill and Stalin represent a diode in the Force and are therefore able to achieve victory. :datass:
