Pacific Rim - 6/10

Robot bits were good. Human bits, nope.

Palm Springs

Loved it  the Groundhog Day thing seems to be a magic formula when you consider the original, this and Edge of Tomorrow, but I get the feeling if anyone tries it again within the next 5-10 years it'll suddenly feel awfully stale.

Great film that, used to use the quote on ONM occasionally back in the day when someone needed putting in their place.

Ma Rainey's Black Bottom

I thought that was brilliant with amazing performances from everybody. It was really refreshing to see a stage play adapted to film so well and so faithfully as well.

Have you watched Russian Doll on Netflix? That's very good as well.

Chadwick Boseman is fantastic, it's difficult to watch knowing he was giving his all in his final performance :(

Viola Davies is also brilliant in it. Both so watchable.

Not even heard of it. Will take a look. Guessing it follows the same sort of theme?

Not to say it isn't a great movie (I loved it) but I think we're all resonating with it especially at the moment because we've been on pause for 12 months and yesterday and today and tomorrow all feel the same

Stowaway 3/10

Looks nice, but that's all it has going for it.

Its a TV series. More in common with Palm Springs. Check it out.

ugh/10. Nope, after all this time I still don't like it. I genuinely think I must have watched a different film than everyone else. I really don't get the love for this film or for Tarantino as a film maker. I was going to give Kill Bill another go or one of his most recent ones but I'm not sure if I can bring myself to do it

There's lots of reasons people like him, he's a very distinct director. But if you don't enjoy his style why force yourself to watch him? All his films very much feel like Tarantino films and if you don't like Pulp Fiction at all you're unlikely to enjoy the rest.

It was mainly to see if my opinion of the films had changed. There are films I've hated in the past that I have subsequently come to enjoy (and vice versa) and I had a few friends convince me to give him a shot since I'd not watched them for a while. I didn't end up bothering in the end for the reason you gave. Life is too short to watch other films I know I'll hate

Please do not post this in the "No Context" thread

Roald & Beatrix: Tale of the Curious Mouse - 6/10

Likeable stuff even if short, also it's supposed to be christmas but the fact it was shot in mid summer was really quite obvious in places.

The use of St Fagans near Cardiff for some of the locations was also a neat touch.

Rocket Man

A competent film that could have done without all the pretense. By the end, I ended up quite enjoying it but there were points earlier on where I was wishing I was watching Bohemian Rhapsody instead.

Thor Ragnarok - 7/10

Not really a huge fan of these MCU movies, but this is one of the better ones I've seen. Solid enough.
