Jiro Dreams of Sushi - 9/10

Lovely film to ease a comedown. Somewhat inspiring in the craft he uses to form every piece of Sushi.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

This is it, Joel. We're gonna be gone, soon.
I know.
What do we do?
Enjoy it.

I'm not a concept, Joel. I'm just a fucked-up girl looking for my own peace of mind. I'm not perfect.
I can't see anything that I don't like about you.
...But you will, you will!
Now I am...
But you will, you know, you will think of things. And I'll get bored with you, and feel trapped, because that's what happens with me!
...Okay.
Okay... okay.
(tears / laughter)

I watch the film every year and those two conversations always get me. The film remains one of my favourites of all-time; just brilliant.

Ghostbusters 2016 - I'm not sure what they were thinking here. They had a reasonably decent director and at least half of the Bridesmaids cast but somehow managed to make something so incredibly cringe worthy. 3/10.

Rampage. Still an enjoyable popcorn flick, that doesn’t take itself too seriously. 14/20.

Eddie the Eagle.

Perhaps the most fulfilling and inspirational movies of it's kind - quite funny too, both Eddie and his coach (played by Hugh Jackman). You'd be hard pressed not to feel the triumph when he lands the 90m jump.

10/10

Inside Out, was on TV today and had heard good things about it. I was not disappointed, wasn’t expecting it to be quite as hard hitting as it was. 9/10

Pacific Rim: Uprising. So confident that this would be a hit they even had a teaser for a follow up film where they would take the fight to the alien species. However they forgot to make a good movie which is usually required in order to make this a possibility. Also it was another one of those films that received a big Chinese funding grant and in return it features a number of superhero Chinese characters who have no negative and few emotional traits and are there to be super damn helpful. 3/10. Dreadful.

Bird Box

It's a B-Movie, but at least it's a smartly plotted and entertaining one. gooseberry fools the bed a bit at the end but it's a decent little movie overall. +1 for Malkovich too.

7/10

I agree. It's a lesser version of The Quiet Place which really loses traction after the plot leaves the house and ensemble cast behind. Malkovich and Bullock do put in excellent performances though.

Die Hard 2 3/10

This is a bad, bad film.

Spiderverse 8/10

This is a good film.

I got this for Christmas on Blu Ray. I have also heard it's great, looking forward to watching it.

Bird Box - 7/10

Interesting idea. Some very memorable scenes. The end of it was ridiculous to me. And I kept looking at Sandra Bullock's strawberry floating nose.

It's weird.

I went in not having seen it for about 10 years expecting an entertaining ride but it's just...boring. It goes on for strawberry floating ever and is devoid of any B-movie charm even; it's just a bunch of things happening. We watched Temple of Doom just before it and, although that film has issues, the spectacular action scenes still hold up and the whole thing is a diverting (racist) romp. Die Hard 2 had no such redeeming scenes and was a chore from beginning to end.

Oh, I forgot one:

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (most of it) 8/10

Was not expecting to enjoy this. However, I enjoyed this.

Spider-Verse 8/10

Loved it. Fun, colourful, poignant, adventurous, surprising, energetic. There's not a wasted moment in there. So much love and passion comes through

Bird Box 6/10

It's alright and Sandra B gives a great performance. It loses a lot of power as it goes on and the events are more explained and plot/logic holes pile up and up (more so than TQP)

JW: Fallen Kingdom 2/10

Still can't get over how bad this was

It's not that bad, it's not as good as the original sure, but it's still an entertaining actioner.

I'd give it 6.
