Isn't It Romantic - Netflix - 6/10

Decent enough rom-com stuff with some good performances from Rebel Wilson and Thingy Hemsworth (the one that isn't Thor or "the ugly one"). Tries to have its cake and eat it by making the premise about how silly romantic comedies are and how they are full of cliches whilst also making use of all those standard tropes and cliches itself.

Priyanka Chopra is also hot in it.

Halloween (2018) 8/10 i enjoyed that

Serenity (2019) - I don't even know/10

I had to see this. I knew there was a twist. I knew it was miles away from how you'd think the film would be. And I knew it was 'bag of hammers' stupid. But still, I watched it.

I've been stuck in the house for a few weeks so my brain has melted quite significantly, it might explain why I wasn't really that bothered wasting over an hour and half on this. Give it a watch if you really want to know what happens, or just read the article linked below

Tempted to watch it now.

I watched it too! I'm off work for a couple of weeks so find myself with time I wouldn't normally have to waste.

I'd also heard it was bad, like... really bad, but it was just starting when I flicked to sky cinema, so.....

It's utterly terrible. So, so terrible. Mind-numbingly stupid, badly-acted..... It's pretty much devoid of anything worthy of positive comment.

I would greatly recommend it to everyone.

Captain Marvel - 7/10; was way funnier than I expected, some great 90’s Era humour. Marvel’s de-ageing tech is amazing, still Kurt Russell in GOTG2 is the standard but Sam Jackson comes close. Can’t wait for Endgame now! Soundtrack is top notch too.

The Aftermath - 7/10.

Fighting With My Family - 7/10; Stephen Merchant’s style of comedy fits this film well, I’d be interested to see if it does well in the US. All the principle cast are brilliant, thought they might of been more cameos from WWE Stars than there were.

Captain Marvel - 7/10

Better than expected but not close to the best marvel stuff. I thought it got better as it went along. Some good effects and a strong story for an origin movie. Excellent Stan Lee tributes and soundtrack. No real surprises but a lot to enjoy. Amazing use of technology on Sam Jackson too. Post credit stuff was enjoyable.

Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom. 2/10

What a load of bollocks. The last act was like something out of Harry Potter, and the director sure did love trying to 'subliminally' match shots from the first film. HEY MEMBER WHEN THE RAPTOR OPENED THE DOOR

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse - 7.5/10

It was a pretty good film and the animation was great.

First Man - 9/10

Wow. I really enjoyed this one and I was glued to it for almost two hours. What a man Neil Armstrong was. The film did implicit that Neil was very focused with his work and oh boy if he didn’t do his homework. NASA would be strawberry floated. I was chuffed to see my Lego Saturn V on the shelf when they were about to get in the space rocket in the film.

Assassin's Creed.

Not too shabby but too much dabbling in the present day.

Captain Marvel 6/10- It's fine, kept me entertained but not much more.

I liked the look of Serentiy from the trailers, looked like a reasonable crime thriller, but didn't bother when I saw the reviews. Read the article, sounds bizarre.

Await Further Instructions. Well worth a watch on Netflix. But go into it without knowing what it's about for a better experience. It features science fiction and horror though,that's all I'll say.

Nothing But The Truth - 7/10 - based on a true story; a US Journalist releases the real identity of a CIA Agent in her paper and her ensuing battle with the Government. Cracking cast - Kate Beckinsale, David Schwimmer, Matt Dillon, Alan Alda, Vera Farmiga, Angela Bassett and Noah Wyle, took a punt going on the cast and was pleasantly surprised - on Amazon Prime.

"Mr. President, I'm not saying we wouldn't get our hair mussed", said in the context of trying to downplay the devastation of a nuclear attack is one of the best comedic lines ever.

2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) - *****
This film takes you across tens of thousands of years from the dawn of man to the birth of something entirely new seemingly with very little happening, yet it flows seamlessly and is completely hypnotic in the process. The models and VFX hold up tremendously well too.

I don't often see the same kind of love for this as I do for Kubrick's other work but I think it's one of his best, I really want to check out the novel it's based on. It's unfortunate that the film is almost impossible to talk about without the discussion devolving into conspiracy theorist shite relating to how Kubrick was trying to expose a cabal of cannibalistic elite who killed him to prevent his final cut being released when perhaps if they're so powerful, they could have just, you know, canned the project before it entered production? But no no no, any reading of the film involving its themes of masculinity/femininity, ego, fantasy and fidelity is just you being a rube, maaaaaaan.
