I enjoyed Hateful Eight, but I can't remember much about it and have had no desire to rewatch it.

I should have just searched your post history.

Overindulgent. That about sums it up. Overindulgent and slow, without the whip smart dialogue it so desperately needed. It's strawberry floating cruel too, the last chapter is probably the meanest Tarantino's ever been, bordering on sadistic. Better than his worst (Death Proof) but only just.

Yeah, he's clearly the worst thing in it. He's the -1

That's a very generous 6.

Not seen Hateful Eight but from what I've heard it's probably Tarantino's worst film?

Basterds is worth way more than a 6 though and the bar scene is fantastic. :capnscotty:

Most people seem to hate Deathproof the most, but I quite enjoy it.

I don't think there are any Tarantino movies that I dislike. Hateful Eight is probably the "worst" for me but I enjoyed it when I watched it.

I haven't seen all his films but the one I like the least if what I've seen is Kill Bill Volume 2. Was boring as feck tbh.

Pulp fiction is the only truly great one, with reservoir dogs a good film behind it. The rest are mediocre at best and only get a look in because he's involved. If those films were exactly the same but with someone else's name attached then they would have been forgotten by now.

Pulp Fiction and Inglorious Basterds are the only 2 that I can do repeat viewings of, not really interested in seeing any of the others ever again.

Only bastards don't like Jackie Brown. I'm going to see Once Upon a Time in Hollywood tonight. Looking forward to it!

Jackie Brown is his best, and also the only one he didn't write.

COINCIDENCE?!

Yeah I'm not sure I like the way he writes dialogue tbh. It's all a bit try-hard. Also, Pulp Fiction is overrated.

He wrote the screenplay but I have no idea how similar it is to Rum Punch as I've never read it.

I don't see how it could be any worse than Death Proof.

Dear god that film was shite.

Death Proof was bad but not massively objectionable.

Hateful Eight is sadistic, bordering on torture porn.

Everything after Kill Bill Vol 1 ranges from deeply disappointing to outright bad in my mind. The aforementioned film has been made retroactively worse due to it being the indication of his future direction. He's made more more films post-Kill Bill than pre, which I find pretty sad as that would suggest that this was always what his style was meant to be, such a waste of potential.

Edit: Been years since I watched any of them, but here's how I'd rate the 00's side of his career from recollection:

Kill Bill Vol 1 - 6/10
Kill Bill Vol 2 - 5/10
Death Proof - 3/10
Inglourious Basterds - 4/10
Django Unchained - 5/10
Hateful Eight - 2/10

I never thought I would see the day that Taf approved of leaving a young women, dressed as a cheerleader, to be raped by a redneck.

Is not great, bit also not really part of the film. It's an assumption. Hateful Eight not only focuses on pain and torture, that's its raison d'ĂȘtre
