Last film you watched and your rating

I didn't mind the Sherlock Holmes film he did, although I'd probably go back and realise that was gooseberry fool if I watched it now as well!

I last watched Snatch a couple of years ago and still enjoyed it. It’s nonsense, but enjoyable nonsense.

Even if you don't like his Lock Stock/Snatch schtick, The Man From UNCLE is a great film.

The Empire Strikes Back (Live in Concert)

C3PO could really do with shutting the strawberry float up in the second half of this. It's a good outing but at £60 it's way too expensive because having the live score doesn't really add that much to the experience other than it being unique. You forget after a short while that it's live at all really.

I watched Snatch a few months ago, I still think it's pretty good. Though I think it's one of those films which is better the first time you watch as it has a few twists and turns.

I only saw Snatch for the first time a couple of months back, and i thought it was a really fun movie.

The bookies robbery alone is infinitely watchable.

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse - An incredible visual achievement. The various styles of the Spider-characters were terrifically presented and the attention to detail was astonishing throughout. There were pretty much constant moments where I thought that I'd love to have a video game-like photo mode and grab a poster of the scene.

The storyline was a fun romp and the characters were well-voiced, too. But that design... wow! [8].

Corazon de Leon

Spider-Verse's realisation of New York is my phone's lock screen and wallpaper now, it's absolutely beautiful.

In fact, I think it might be one of my top films of the decade. And that gives me an idea for a thread...

Yeah Spider-Verse is incredible. One of those movies that is just so special that you wonder how it was allowed to happen without someone interfering and breaking the magic.

Rather enjoyable Space horror that's essentially a rip of the Alien franchise, the ending had a cool twist mind.

Midsommar.

I loved it. The story is very slow paced, beautifully shot film.

Not a true masterpiece, as many other reviews but it’s almost there. The ending does baffles, but once you take the whole context from the beginning to the end it makes sense.

Almost a perfect film. 9/10

It’s awful, Nottingham looks like China, there are Industrial Age mines, everyone dresses like they are in the modern era, bows and cross bows are used like guns. Toward the start of the movie Robin goes to the Middle East during the crusades that plays out like a modern warfare. There’s some good action sequences which is why it gets a 3.

The parallels with today’s political world is apt mind.

Aquaman - 6/10

I didn’t enjoy this much, it was more fun than most of the recent DC movies, but I was bored for a lot of it. Jason Momoa was great though.

Star Trek 2: Wrath of Khan - 7.5/10

I’d never seen this before and so thought I’d watch it as it’s supposed to be the best Trek movie. It’s a decent enough story but has aged badly, the effects were awful in places. And Khan being a super genetically modified guy from 1996 really threw my suspension of disbelief.

New Jack City

Despite it's clunky plot, some ropey acting from various cast members and bizarre editing I've always had a soft spot for this "gangsta" movie.

Great soundtrack too.

Detective Pikachu 8/10
A lot of fun, with a great cast. Ryan Reynolds was brilliant as Pikachu and the whole plot and set up wasn't that bad. The film was filled with so many referneces so a second viewing is needed, though some of the CGI looked a bit off some times and that Journalist girl didn't get enough screen time. Hope we're getting a sequel.

Death by Metal

Docu-film about Chuck Schuldiner and his band "Death".

Death is one of my favourite bands, more so for the fact that Chuck always broke new boundaries in the metal/death metal scene. The film follows the bands creation in 1983, (focusing on Chuck's refusal to conform to the tropes of extreme metal scene throughout his musical career), until he lost his battle with cancer in 2001.

In the tall grass - 8/10

Netflix movie which is close to brilliant but not quite there. Some strong performances and some good visuals. But it's missing something. If they had gone a different route and made the film more basic then it could have been a classic.
