Really enjoyable, gives a funny take on how absurd it must have been when Stalin croaked and the panic it must have caused amongst all the sycophants and opportunists.

I started to watch it and must not have been in the right headspace for it as it gave me really bad anxiety. I do love Armando Ianucci usually so it was odd. I should give it another go, really.

Cobra Kai is a hidden gem. It is utterly, brilliantly entertaining. They do fan service just right while also bringing it all up to date. I have completely loved both series of it so far.

Second viewing and l thoroughly enjoyed it again.

Knives Out - 9/10

Throughly enjoyed this. It’s hard to say much about it as it’s a “whodunnit”! I did think James Bond sounded like House of Cards Kevin Spacey though, which made him pretty sinister.

Jojo Rabbit - 8.5/10

Not perfect but an excellent look at the brainwashing of kids during the Nazi era. Again it’s hard to say much without spoiling things, but it’s funny, sad, horrifying and heartwarming. Taika Waititi is fast becoming my favourite actor/writer/director.

Bumblebee - 7/10

Quite enjoyed this even though it was essentially an 80's themed rehash of the first Bay directed Transformers film.

The female lead (Hailee Steinfeld ) is a far more likeable character than Shia LeBeouf's character in the first who was a bit of a dick (just like the actor then).

Also really liked the little nods to the '86 animated film (Stan Bush's The Touch playing in the background ).

Wonder Woman - it's basically just the first Captain America film but set in 1918 isn't it? World War setting. Super soldier smashing through enemy lines. International multidisciplinary commando team plucked from the bar of the Trope and Horses in old Landantaahn. Megalomaniac German general with brilliant scientist in tow. Suicide mission to stop ultimate weapon culminating in sacrifice to bring down a (strawberry floating stupid looking) plane.

It's okay on the whole but not great. The start was really interesting but it got very formulaic after that. Chris Pine had some good lines. The fight scenes were just Gal Gadot getting shot in the wrists a lot. I think the Cap trilogy has spoilt us with regards to gooseberry fool hot shield fighting, but this was nowhere near as good. I'd heard good things about this but overall I was a bit disappointed. Having said all that I do still want to see WW84...

Cobra Kai has no right to be as good as it is. Everything about it screams a disaster in the making, but it's brilliant. It should be too cheesy, fan-servicey and melodramatic but actually ends up being hilarious, genuinely poignant at times and just all round entertaining. Can't wait for season three.

The Sisters Brothers - 6

Didn’t really have anything about it. Don’t have anything particularly negative to say it just wasn’t that interesting or entertaining.

Vice - 7

Interesting take on a biopic and sheds light on an individual I was only peripherally aware of. It’s amazing to think how different the world would be on the narrow turn of that 2000 election.

Wow, didn't expect that to be as good as it was. Slow, brooding, very authentic, great performances and a superb soundtrack which I'll be listening to on repeat at work tomorrow.

If you like medieval history stuff, go watch it!

Us - 8

This was deeply creepy and disturbing. Wow, was not expecting it to be so good. I know critical opinion is that Get Out better, but I much preferred this. That ending as well, chills.

What we do in the shadows - 6

Interesting concept and has some funny ideas but lacks a certain something compared to Watiti’s other films. Everything feels a bit slower and is lingered on a bit more when I don’t think that suits the style of humour.

It's the only Tarantino movie that I thought was excellent. It's his best, for me.
