Last film you watched and your rating

M (1931) 5/10- This was a good story, the opening was a bit slow. What really let it down was the limitations of early 1930s cinematography. There's a 1951 US remake which therefore may be better.

The Breakfast club 5/10- The most famous scene is that dancing scene. Being the only bit I was familiar with I expected it to be far more hijinksy than it was. Found most of it a bit boring as a result.

Paddington 2 8/10- Was bullied into giving this an 8 instead of a 7. It's incredibly well made, and very lovely in places. It's a very good movie but perhaps not to my usual tastes (which is why I wanted to give it a 7).

The Blues Brothers 9/10 - The comic timing was perfect throughout, and I don't think I've seen better car chases. Thought I'd seen this as a kid, but that might have been the 2000 version... At least now I know why there are so many Blue Brothers statues outside tourist bars in Europe. I think.

Batman Begins - 8/10

Really enjoyed seeing this again. It flows so well for an origin story. Great cast and every shot of Gotham at night looks amazing.

I Hired A Contract Killer 8/10 - I doubt the pubs and shop fronts have changed much in 30 years. I thought the flats of Manchester were grimy.

I remember watching that when it first came out but wasn't keen.

I should probably try and see it again at some point as i'm more likely to enjoy it nowadays.

The whole sequence with the red rubber underwear is so absurd.

Yeah I expected The Breakfast Club to be full of hijinks too, but it’s pretty grim and depressing. Weird movie.

Yeah, Breakfast Club is ok, but it's certainly not as fun as the likes of Ferris Bueller.

The breakfast club is an all time classic. The greatest teen movie of all time which goes from happy to sad in a heartbeat. Amazing performances and a spirit that only John Hughes could achieve. Its perfection.

Also Paul Gleason is on Die Hard levels of annoyance.

The Breakfast Club is fantastic. I seen it for the first time a few months ago. Script really resonated with me.

I think I want to start a fanclub for Alison.

It’s nowhere as deep and profound as it thinks it is.
At the very least, it hasn’t aged brilliantly.

Absolutely hated what I watched of Ferris Bueller. Never finished it, found the main character obnoxious as strawberry float.

Hereditary - 6/10

The pacing of this is kinda awful. A lot of scenes just didn't add anything to the overall story. It takes too long to get to where it should be.

I thought the performances were all over the place as well, couldn't sympathise with the main character as she seemed really cold most of the time. The car scene though :dread:

Into The Inferno 8/10- Magma is mesmerising

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood 8/10- Another hit from Tarantino. Obviously a bit ponderous in places, but is quite fun.

Tusk 3/10- This was a Secret Santa gift from here maybe in 2018. It starts off well enough but descends into a slog. The scene where they talk to the French detective was just incredibly long and dull.

Gemini Man - 3/10

I'm a fan of 80's action films and I can't remember the last time I watched something with such a paper thin plot. Some of the young Will Smith stuff was pretty good but it's a shame it took up so much of the budget the rest of the CGI came from the Blade 2 era. The Netflix film with Chris Hemsworth is a much better action film than this.

Genius Party 7/10 - A collection of animated short stories which vary from okay to great. The best short involves a baby realising it's in a simulation, but that's Yuasa for you.
