Largely forgettable stuff, the train sequence was neat, but the rest was kinda meh, also, what was with that whole...

Darth Maul thing? The timeline for him to even be in it is all wrong.

He survived after the fight in TPM. That's why he has super strength badass robot legs!

You need to watch the animated series to answer that question.

I hate the reliance on having watched some cartoon to understand that bit.

Yep. I'm all for bringing the EU into the main films but strawberry float man, at least give it some sort of relevance/explanation.

Aside from a couple of iconic scenes, I can't remember much of it.

I've only seen it once though.

But what if the films want to leave the EU? 8-)

They're actually pretty good though. Better than a lot of the films in fact.

For that scene
initially I didn't think it was Darth Maul. He looked a bit different and sounded different (No Peter Serafinowicz this time...!) and the lightsabre was a different style, but that would make sense considering what happens when you last see him :shifty:

I just assumed that was sequel-baiting (whoops!) and they'd explain it all in another film rather than needing familiarity with the TV shows. I mean, even if you know he's not dead it still doesn't really explain why he's there and working with Jarvis and Qi'ra does it?

You have to have seen a cartoon? I haven't and just took away that Darth Maul survived TPM and they are setting up a sequel/future film. It was a bit OTT though.

It is actually a very good film, but it is not my favourite by a fair number. Worth a second watch because so much of the context changes when you know the twist

A mate of mine told me the entire plot of fight club the day after it came out in cinemas, including the ending. Needless to because of that I've never bothered to watch it

I hate when people do that, everyone i knew told me everything about the Borat movie when it first came out, and by the time i saw it, it had been completely spoiled.

At least that's the hope given there are a handful of watchable people in it. Also, a good soundtrack doesn't just consist of your favourite tracks all thrown at it in some kind of random order. It's on Amazon Prime BTW if anyone hasn't seen it yet.

Completely agree with this. The first half of the film as they introduce the characters makes you really believe you're about to see one of the better superheropeople films. Then is just turns into a pile of absolute shite. Sound track was great, characters were great, story was a mess and I just didn't care about what happened.

Hadn't realised that Suicide Squad was on Amazon Prime, I'm going to end up having to watch that now after managing to avoid it until now.

Is it in "so bad it's good" territory or is it not even enjoyable in that way?

It has moments, and some of the characters are well realised (Harley, Deadshot, Capt Boomerang), but it's a 5/10 movie tops.

Leto's Joker is undoubtedly the worst adaptation ever.

It’s just disappointing and overall a pile of messy gooseberry fool.

Cheers for the info.

I'm sure I'll still end up watching it just so I can understand everyone else's pain!

There are decent bits in the movie. Harley Quinn is good and Will Smith actually does a decent job.

As a whole though, it is just messy and is a massive disappointment when you think about just how good it could have been.

With all this negativity though, you may end up enjoying it. It’s not like we’ve built you up to expect a masterpiece.

Nah, reverse psychology innit - you've all got my hopes up now and if this isn't the Citizen Kane of superhero movies then I'm going to be very disappointed! :P

I've heard that Will does a decent job and that most of the "squad" are decent enough but that the film has something of an identity crisis and doesn't really have a story to tell. Also that the joker is both "not in it enough" and also "a load of gooseberry fool".

It's a DC/Marvel comic book film, they're all a load of gooseberry fool.
