I actually agree with that. Django was my favourite film by him as well.

But then, I've never got the huge amount of love for the guy.

Django definitely isn't perfect but it just stood out to me compared to his other films. And yeah, Westerns are one of my favourite genres so it had that going for it from the start, QT does a good job of leveraging the history of the genre while putting his own spin on some aspects.

Meg - 8/10.

It’s mixed of Deep Blue Sea and Jaws. It’s really enjoyable!

Still as enjoyable as the first time I saw it.

Ghostbusters 3 - 5/10

There's a lot of reasons why this doesn't work. Humour is completely different (fanny farts). CGI is everywhere and it looks bad generally. Pacing is off. It lacks a great big bad.

Some of the little cameos were nice, I guess (I mean Janine  )

Once Upon A Time In The West is the absolute peak of the genre based on what I've watched, and probably in my top five films of all time. The Good, The Bad & The Ugly is another obvious mention. A few others:

The Assassination of Jesse James
Unforgiven
The Searchers
Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid
There Will Be Blood

The Hateful Eight (2015) - ***

I'm struggling to determine whether this is a three or four star film. It's clearly very well made, I'm glad I watched it and I'd recommend it to most people, but I didn't find the story especially interesting either. I know the crux of the film is the interplay between these characters who are forced together rather than the plot setup, and a lot of those interactions are really engaging, but I felt like I was watching it in more of a detached, appreciative way rather than simply losing myself in it. It was fun seeing how they continued to make use of the limited locations over such a long film, but I definitely felt the running time by the end, that part where Channing Tatum shows up to elaborate on how the gang members were all set up at the cabin didn't need to be as long as it was. I always enjoy watching Walton Goggins and was happy to see him play such a big role in it too.

I would also recommend to watch The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, El Dorado, True Grit, A Fistful of Dynamite, Tombstone, The Outlaw Josey Wales,Chato's Land

Ant Man and the Wasp - 7.5/10
It's not the grand scale theatrics of Infinity War but I quite liked it's smaller story. I thought Paul Rudd did a decent job, particularly the scene where he's channelling Michele Pfeiffer, Evangeline Lily was good and Michael Peña was excellent (the bit where he's had the 'truth serum' and the way it plays with the rest of the cast was the best bit in the movie). It played with scale in exactly the way you expect but there was far too much revealed in the trailers, they should have kept some of the stuff as a surprise. I did wonder a little too much what Russell would have though of Hugh's conversion to the dark side.

Mid credit scene was pretty damn good, end one wasn't worth hanging around for.

Meg - 6/10

Nope. Didn’t love that.

Why is a 12A? Jesus

Only overall theme taken from the book - most story beats are gone. . There’s no dread here.

Statham knows what he’s in and hams it up - but everyone else is too bad for a serious film, and too serious for a B movie.

The China funding is ridiculously evident

Give My Name's Nobody a watch too. Once Upon A Time In The West is up there as one of my all time favourite films.

Three Amigos is probably tied with The Man With Two Brains as the funniest film I've ever seen. The 'My Little Buttercup' scene kills me every single time. Steve Martin was amazing back in the day.

I'd pick Hell or High Water to watch as a modern take on a western. Got all the hallmarks of one and it brilliantly done.

Saw Mission Impossible:Fallout this weekend. Loved it. Dumb Fun and highly enjoyable.

Haven't seen a great deal of westerns over the years.

Really enjoyed the True Grit remake though.
