Mad Max 3 is definitely 2 different films put together. The Thunderdome itself is masterful though and makes it all worth it

Max 3 is a let down that's for sure.

Still better than Fury Road mind. :P

Raiders of the Lost Ark - 10/10 - Watched this in honour of its victory in the recent Eliminator thread. It's just an absolutely fantastic movie and it's easy to forget just how effective a director Spielberg can be - the opening sequence where they hold off on revealing Indy, only showing him from behind before finally revealing him in a beautifully framed close up is just brilliantly handled.

I still maintain that the pacing and structure of the movie is just sublime as well - the opening in Peru with the golden idol and subsequent escape from the Hovito sets the scene brilliantly and tells you everything you need to know about Jones (and Bellog for that matter). Then we get some well crafted exposition and macguffin setup with the Army enlisting Indy to track down the Ark before the Nazis do, before the film goes on to lead the viewer through such a fantastic sequence of locations and events (mixing both action and character work brilliantly) - Nepal, the bar scene introducing Marion, her great chemistry with Indy, the interrogation by the Nazi commander and ensuing fight sequence; Cairo, establishing the connection between Indy and Sallah, discovery of the true location of the well of souls ("they're digging in the wrong place!" ), the market fight, "loss" of Marion, "snakes, why did it have to be snakes?!", fighting against the bloke from Auf Wiedersehn Pet in front of the plane, the truck fight sequence, hiding on the steamer, Indy sneaking onto the U-boat as it submerges, the final confrontation and opening of the ark... it's just a brilliant movie!

That was a joke obviously! ;)

I did actually re-watch Fury Road before Christmas and have to admit that it is a better movie than I had been giving it credit for. To the point in fact where I would now say it's probably my favourite from the franchise. :toot:

The Greatest Showman - 9/10. Catchy songs and very fast paced meaning you don't get bored.

Avengers Infinity War - 8/10. Confusing as fook but the comedy in places made it decent.

Tully. 8/10. Motherhood told on a more human level and the mental health issues that go with that.

Ready Player One 7/10. Just as it gets going it's over...I'd love a sequel.

And yet it is. They are both gooseberry fool but 4 is just slightly better.

Die hard 4 is pure AIDS, it's awful, 2 is WAY better and even with that, the massive eejit things in it drive me to insanity.

No runway would have a manhole in the middle of it, let alone have and underground walkway .

The big one, the MAJOR problem with Die Hard 2's story is the planes running out of fuel stuff because if Washington international Airport was closed, they'd be diverted to several others rather than fly above the airport till they drop from the sky. Annoys me so much watching it but it's still MILES better than Die Hard 4.

3 is the best.

Saying it's the best mad max isn't saying much as the first one is the only good one anyway, and even that's average by the standards of action films of that time.

What parts did you find confusing? For me, I was very confused as to why the goodies decided to fight enormous waves of monsters in hand-to-hand combat instead of using regular battle tactics like hitting them with artillery or using air power. But I guess they had to give the second-tier characters something to keep them busy so whatevs.

Road Warrior is pretty good.

I do agree that Thunderdome is utterly awful.

Sometimes I'm upset that my brain thinks things like this in the cinema

They literally had guns against a bunch of unarmed aliens and decided the best opening move of the battle was to charge straight in

Wakanda is gonna get steamrolled by some local insurgency now its revealed itself to the world

4 was on TV the other week i watched it again for the first time in ages & its rubbish 2 is good in comparison despite its Flaws. Timothy Olyphant is the worst Villain out of the whole franchise.
Die Hard 3 is brilliant its opening sequence is awesome

Flaming Guitar Guy should have converted you first time around.

Flaming guitar man is great but not gonna lie that shot of the guitar flying into the screen is the worst in the film

Yeah, stuff like flaming guitar guy and that flying guitar is the sort of thing that loses the film points in my book.

"It's a post apocalyptic world where civilisation has collapsed and we are starved for resources - we have to go on deadly excursions to try and grab whatever fuel we can to survive! ... but we also piss the stuff away sending out massive unnecessary vehicles with speakers, flames and guitar players on them because reasons!"

I think the actual canonical reason is that the radiation has retarded the development of a lot of the mutants under Immortan Joe’s control so they’re really strawberry floating dumb and weird.

The real reason is that it looks quite cool.
