What?

What pressure? They can leave anytime? They come and go willy nilly. They have the diamonds. They completely forget about Orange so it's not "Can they save him/how?"...they're just stood around waiting for someone (was the plan, if the hiest always went well, to just wait in the warehouse for 2 hours for Cabbot?)...who's obviously read the script and will turn up at the proper narrative moment

There's no "pressure" or danger. There's no tension in their situation.

Same with the cop torture. You know he can't escape. So there's no tension. Bad stuff is going to happen to him and you're going to watch....that's not tense it's gratuitous. The "surprise" of Orange waking up is unpredictable, but not in an engaging or particularly satisfying way.

But the cop's alive again! Game of cat and mouse now to see if he can be kept alive...nope randomly shot. There goes that tension.

Still are they going to work out its Orange? Oh Cabbot just knows. With certainty. (Hey weren't the cops waiting for him to show? They too must have been sent the script.)

Time for a Mexican stand off between the guy who "just knows" Orange is bad, and Orange's wannabe boyfriend. Oh and Eddie. 2v1 though that doesn't look great. Oh they...all shot each other...somehow...(I went back and watched this in slow motion...because it's dumb. 2v1 and they don't kill him, but he kills them...)

It's been a while since I saw it, so I can't pick it apart plot point by plot point, but it very much didn't play like that for me.

Ah fair enough.
I'm watching it (and Pulp Fiction) because a guy ( :shifty: ) gave them me on DVD after I said I couldn't recalling if I'd ever seen them all (or just seen lots icon scenes/outakes/homages, or absorded knowledge of them through cultural osmosis)

I thought the most interesting bit was the direction (at some bits). I also thought the use of non-linear storytelling didn't add anything.

It's fine. It's not "bad" by any stretch of the imagination. It just...is.

I can see what you mean but, like it being pointed out that Raiders of the Lost Ark would have ended the same whether Indy was involved or not, it doesn't take away from it being one of my favourite films.

Maybe it hasn't aged that well or, as you say, you've maybe picked up references to it in other films etc. so you already had an idea of what it was going to be like before you watched it.

I thought it was cool as strawberry float when it first came out, probably helped by its 'banned' status and being able to get a pirate tape of it from that one kid at school who always seemed to be able to get stuff like that :)

Will be interested to hear what you make of Pulp Fiction!

Reservoir Dogs is one of the best movies.

Reservoir Dogs is fun but I never quite went along with the hype for it. Pulp Fiction is a much better film in pretty much every way.

I think Reservoir Dogs is a great film but Pulp Fiction is easily the better film in my opinion.

I can remember going to see it at the cinema in Sheffield, I was 21 I think, and being absolutely blown away; I'd honestly never seen anything like it, and as such it has always stuck with me as an all-time favourite.

I'm not sure Tarantino has really topped it - Jackie Brown is superb, mind - although Once Upon A Time in Hollywood is getting some glowing early reviews.

I called off his players' names as they came marching up the steps behind him....All nice guys. They'll finish last. Nice guys. Finish last.

Spider-man - Into the Spider verse.

An astonishing animated movie. The creativity by the director is excellent. Voice work and sound track are all top notch. Loved it.

9/10.

Not sure where it's status came from. Also it's really really gay.

Dogs is a classic.

Regarding Pulp Fiction, every time i'm in France and i see Royal Cheese on the menu in McDonalds, i can't help but smile.

I watched Reservoir Dogs for the first time in years, a few weeks back. I can't remember what I thought of it the first time I saw it, but with the passing of time had always assumed it was a classic. After the rewatch though I was similarly down on it as Hexx. It's still good, but aside from the opening diner scene it doesn't really feel like it does much particularly special.

This is probably a wildly unpopular opinion but, aside from being overly long, I think The Hateful Eight does the single room drama better.

I still haven't seen The Hateful Eight, I really need to get round to sorting that out.

I've never watched a QT movie and not enjoyed it though. Some are better than others for sure but he's definitely never made a stinker.

The closest to a stinker is Deathproof, but I actually like that movie.

Good point. I had actually forgotten about Deathproof...

It is his worst movie, but it still has enough going for it that I'm sticking to my earlier statement! :slol:

I think it’s unfairly treated, but it’s easily his worst movie.

Inglorious Basterds is my favourite which seems to be an Unpopular Opinion, but I'm sticking with it

The opening scene and the bar scene are what elevate it for me. Christoph Waltz is perfect.

Rim of the World - 10/10

An absolute masterpiece of movie making. Probably the best film of the decade.

I’m joking, it’s a strawberry floating dreadful film, I can’t remember the last movie I saw that was that bad. strawberry float knows why I watched all of it.

Oh I've got you beaten here.

Action Point 1/10

strawberry floating abysmal film. We put it on as the inlaws usually talk over whatever we put on, so it may as well be something gooseberry fool.

Death Proof was a bona fide grade A stinker of epic proportions, it has a high ranking on my all time most hated movies list.
