Didn't someone pick that for the GRcade film club a few years back?

Zombie Land 2 - 8/10

Lovely little film. Very well edited and very funny with some great kills and a likeable cast. A little predictable in parts but fun all the way through. A sequel to this every 10 years would be great. Also there is a post credit sequence about a minute into the credits which is well worth a look.

Wish my image sig would work

That sequel totally passed me by. I need to watch that, because the original is excellent.

Wounds, on Netflix.

This actually started out really strong, but I don't think it knows what it wants to be. It's a very slow downhill after the opening fifteen or so minutes, but it's slow enough that you keep watching thinking it's going to get better. But having set up a very high-concept interesting premise (bartender with an interesting set of clientele watches a bad bar fight unfold, after which one patron leaves behind their phone upon which they discover 'strawberry floated up gooseberry fool') it abandons all the interesting plot details and keeps doubling down and doubling down and doubling down on a kind of Diet-'Black Swan' spiral into insanity thing that's just really boring.

The cast is pretty good, the main guy is especially better than the script deserves. It's just really dull.

It was only released into cinemas on Friday, to be fair.

I genuinely cried the first time I saw that. Nearly fell off the sofa in a fit of laughter.

For some reason I decided to watch a bit of Terminator Geniysiysys today, and those first 15-20 minutes are actually pretty decent. Such a shame it completely drops off a cliff after that :fp:

I just got back from the cinema watching this and I thought it was great :D .

They explain the reboot well and it's back to being a classic Terminator film without trying to explain time travel or using the "Come with me if you want to live!" line. The bad Terminator was as bad as you'd hope and Arnold really does a terrific job of his age old role.

All in all finally a worthy sequel to Terminator 2 :toot: .

The reviews I've seen so far for Dark Fate seem to be that it's "fine", which after the shite we've had to swallow for that past 20-odd years is something to cherish, I guess.

Anyways, re-watched Hell or High Water for the second time this evening with a nice big glass of Glenlivet. I gave this a 7/10 the first time I saw it but on reflection it's better than that, a high 8 maybe even a 9/10. The sense of decay and the feeling of life just ebbing away from rural America is very powerful - these are desperate people in desperate times, felt very realistic. The melancholic Western soundtrack is memorable and all of the actors are terrific, particularly Chris Pine and Jeff Bridges.

A classic modern-day Western.

Dolomite Is My Name - 9/10

Eddie Murphy and Wesley Snipes on fine form in this comedy. Got some proper laughs out of me, highly enjoyable movie.

Zombieland 2

Very much throwaway entertainment. Decent enough but I'm not sure I'd have bothered if I knew what my opinion would be.

I think a good chunk of the viewer's perception of the film relies on their feelings towards Jesse Eisenberg's character. Unfortunately, at least on my opinion, he is very much an unlikable twerp. I don't know if we're supposed to find his awkward geekiness endearing, but it's just not, rather it's dull and haughty.

Props to Zoey Deutch, who somehow pulls off what should in theory be a strawberry floating terrible character. I'm sure it's nothing to do with the fact she is stunningly beautiful :slol:.

Post-credits scene spoiler: Bill Murray does not look at all well :( not sure there's much longer left for him.
