Toy Story 4 - 9/10

Was expecting this to be a poor sequel, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Ducky and Bunny, Forky and Duke Caboom were all fantastic new characters.

PLUSH RUSH!!!

Yes I Canada!

Toy Story 4 was great, not the best of the franchise and arguably "unnecessary" but they still know how to make a damn fine Toy Story movie!

The visuals were genuinely incredible at times as well, when you think how far things have come since the first one.

I don’t get the modern criticism that things are “unnecessary”, that basically goes for almost every sequel ever made.

I don’t think it’s the best either, it comfortably the worst of the series. But the series is so damn good that that isn’t an insult to number 4.

Yeah I generally agree on the unnecessary label being a bit of a modern edgelord angle to take on things. In this case I do think they had closed things off so nicely with 3 that there is some justification in questioning the need to bring it back.

But yeah ultimately it's a criticism that can be put on most sequels and as long as what they produce is good and doesn't in some way degrade what came before then why make a fuss!

The Irishman - 7.5/10

My secret CCTV camera in Photek’s bathroom paid dividends when I spent the whole weekend watching him....err I mean this was a decent enough movie. The de-ageing effects were decent, although I agree with people that said the actors still move like old people.

It’s bloody long, but it was an enjoyable length that was satisfying.

Jurassic Park III. 4/10. Rubbish. The fire scene in the rain near the end looked amazing in 4K at least, but the rest of the film was easily the weakest of the 5.

I was hoping Mum and Dad, who were thoroughly annoying and stupid throughout, would get eaten but it never happened.

I felt it did have more overtly Dino Crisis-esque horror moments than any of the others, such as the fog filled bird cage as they crossed the rickety bridge.

The Huntsman Winter War 3/10
A nice looking film but thats about it, too long and boring, so-so acting.

Hellboy (2004) 9/10
Never was into Hellboy but picked this up as it was pretty cheap in HMV and it's was a utter blast, cool, creepy, and thrilling.

[clip of raptor going "Hey Alan"

Bahaha it's so good

I instantly think of that raptor whenever I hear someone say "Alan" emphatically...

Funnily enough, the same with "Sarah" due to the bizarre way Ian Malcom calls out to that character in Lost World

Venom 7/10
Was a bit weary of watching this after the mixed reviews, but honestly was a pleasant surpirse. Tom Hardy was great and there was a decent amount of humour in it, the opening hour was a bit slow, the villian was so-so and for a 15 rated it wasn't that violent.

I really enjoyed Venom, its just a great fun film and I thought the humour was spot on, the bit where the Venom parasite first speaks to Eddie and he practically gooseberry fools himself was hilarious

I hope the sequel actually gets made, can't wait to see what they do with Carnage although the likely 15 rating will probably mean they can't fully show how violent the character actually is.

Venom = 2nd best superhero film eva (behind Spiderverse). It's the opposite of the sanitised corporate Marvel films or the try-hard grimdark DC ones. It's a wild strawberry floating motorbike of a thing and I very much hope the sequel stays true.

What is wrong with you  :fp:
