True Romance – 8/10

It’s probably been 20 years since I last watched this and I had forgotten just how good it is. The racist scene with Dennis Hopper was jarring and uncomfortable rather than the funny scene it was probably intended to be, Tarantino does love the N word. :dread: Oldman’s “I think I’m black” character wasn’t as bad as I remembered though.

Fantastic Beasts and where to find them 7.5/10
Really enjoyable Potter spin-off, love the setting, special effects and Eddie Redmayne was great as Newt. But it did feel like there wasn't much going on plot wise til the last half hour.

I personally preferred Crimes of Grindelwald, i think mainly because it returned to the more traditional wizarding locations such as Hogwarts.

Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution - The story is presented pretty much the same as before with a few minor changes. The visuals are great, and being in CGI has allowed them licence to use some really great sweeping camera movements over battles. I wouldn't go as far as to say this makes the original version obselete, but it sure makes me wish we get more movies in this style.

Fighting with my Family - 8/10

A much much better movie than I was expecting. It actually made wrestling seem interesting.

Just watched this myself, thought it was fantastic. All those feels coming back from when I first saw it at the pivotal scene near the end.

Just watched this too. I thought it was very good and the CGI was impressive. I rather enjoyed it though.

Argo

No idea how I haven't watched this until now. It was excellent and had me gripped throughout. Ben Affleck sure is a talented guy.

9/10

Yup. Still got the ability to pull those sad feelings from anyone.

Carla Gugino and Alexandra Daddario also save it :datass:

Doesn't Daddario save anything, though?

Princess Mononoke - 10

Most be at least a dozen times watching this now and I still love it. The relationship between man and nature with the mystical slant I just love, part of why Zelda is my favourite game series and this is the most Zelda Ghibli. All the English performances are great too. Wish the other Ghibli films were more like this than the crazy elseworld stories they kind of became after Spirited Away.

Ghibli always has some fantasy and some more grounded stories - I don’t think that changed particularly after Spirited Away.

Paprika - 9.5/10 - might go up on repeat viewings. Insane, brilliant movie. Satoshi Kon at his very best IMO.

The Cat Returns.

I didn't think I would see cats doing normal things in their lives. it was still a good film.

Doctor Sleep - 7.5/10

Pleasantly surprised by this one. It’s not as good as the Shining, it’s not even really close, but it’s a good movie which shocked me as I was expecting a mess.
