Diego Maradona

This is just a magnificent film. I watched it with my girlfriend who has no interest in football and even she was gripped by it. Everyone should watch it.

Princess Mononoke.

It's brilliant. Definitely one of my faves.

I had been waiting for another update on your Ghibli watching. I love Mononoke, it's such an all round great movie.

I agreed. I've also watched Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind a few days ago which I enjoyed it but it is not on a par of Princess Mononoke or Porco Rosso.

I've got two more left which are The Tale of the Princess Kaguya and Spirited Away.

Cinema first weekend of its release: Onward
6/10
Cute visuals but way too "safe" and predictable. Yes there's a tearjerking moment but it feels a lot more forced than Pixars best stuff and most of the movie is very forgettable. Even Tom Holland can't safe this movie from being incredibly "meh". Won't watch again

Disney+: Lion King 1.5. Score: 8/10 Hilarious take on the Lion King. Timon and Pumbaa are usually hit or miss but I liked them a lot in this one, probably because there were actual plot weight to their silliness.

Disney+: Monster's University. 7/10
Memorable moments, earned emotional scenes especially between the two leads. As good as a Monster's Inc prequel can be to be honest

Disney+: Monster's Inc 9/10
Seen it a million times so obviously it's not as fresh but still a classic well written narrative throughout

Disney+: Who Framed Roger Rabbit 8/10
Second or third time seeing it. Still brilliant. Great visuals. Perfect comedy. Bob Hoskins and Christopher Lloyd give stellar performances. Age rating is confusing but I like the more adult tone of the movie

The Aftermath - 6/10

It could have been so much better as I can’t think of another WWII film that is about British occupied Germany after the war, unfortunately it was ruined by focusing on a predictable love storyline

Tomorrowland 6/10 I forgave the pacing as I thought it was going somewhere interesting and was enjoying the slow ride. The climax is just crappy tropeyness.

Tato 3 (more commonly known as Toy Story 3)

First time I've watched this and I thought it was great. Really funny and the end made my throat sore. The monkey was so good.

The Tale of the Princess Kaguya.

The art style and animation were fantastic. The ending was a quite emotional and powerful. Don't get me wrong, it is a very good film and I'm much preferred Princess Mononoke though.

A Quiet Place - 8/10
Thought this was very good, and had me engrossed throughout. Moves at a decent pace and tells the story well.

Frozen 2 - 9/10, even if I did find this the most uncanny valley of all the animated Disney films I've ever watched. At points it looked like the characters had been superimposed over real-life backdrops and sets. The heads also really seemed to stand out, even compared to the rest of their bodies.

The music reminded me of Wicked in this one more than the original.

The Last Starship. Absolutely dreadful. I kinda feel bad saying that because it has obviously been made on a budget... but it is awful. Some "okay" effects but terrible plot, scripting and acting. 1/10 and it only gets that 'cos I could fast-forward it.

A pal gave me the disc and I can only presume he was having a bit of fun  .

Jurassic World: fallen kingdom

Surprisingly serviceable but ultimately a bit crap.

5/10
