Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker 6/10 lacked any kind of real plot or subtlety. If this was a standalone movie would have probably rated it worse, but it's still a big budget space opera.

Watched that latest Harley Quinn film last night - Birds of Prey or whatever it was called in the end.

6/10

Slick and nicely put together, with some nice touches, but I just found HQ and the overall style so relentlessly irritating I couldn't relax into it, and somehow I ended up feeling bored by the end despite the constant technicolour action. I think it deserved to do better than it did, but I'm not sure I'm glad I sat through it.

The Good the bad and the ugly 7/10, girlfriend is outraged I only have it at 7. The good bits were good, but I felt it dragged a bit.

Guest Girlfriend Review 9/10: Clearly a better film than Okja and The Pianist.

She maybe being slight too self referential.

Avengers: Infinity War - 9/10
Avengers: End Game - 8/10

First time seeing them both since the cinema. Once we get to the last third of End Game it’s just unreal, but other than that it’s a bit boring in parts. Spoilers for both below incase someone who wants to see these films hasn’t yet.
Infinity War though is still great, that moment of thinking that Thanos might have actually done it would be terrifying as a kid watching all your heroes die.

So many great set pieces though across the films, the two highlights obviously being Thor arriving in Wakanda in IW and Cap with Mjolnir in EG.

I agree with you. That movie does drag on for way too long. Your girlfriend is wrong!

Star Wars Rise of Skywalker - 4/10

I have no idea what I was thinking when I initially liked this. Maybe the spectacle on the big screen. strawberry float me its so bad. I can’t believe I actually prefer TLJ, at least the worst offence of that is that it’s really really boring and also kinda dumb. This is just incoherent nonsense and dumb on a planet blowy up scale. What are The First Order even doing in this?

I love Woyzeck, Kinski at his best and the final tragic scene is perfect as the music kicks in.

I've heard of that, it does have quite the reputation, never seen it myself though.

Lincoln Laywer - 6

Enjoyed this overall, is quite slick to start with but towards the end it got bogged down in court room clichés. Matthew McConaughey was good (the start of him reinventing himself from rom-coms I believe) and the OTT dramatic characters were fun but the plot was pretty flimsy when you looked at it too closely.

I also liked how the biker gang always knew where he was heading when they needed him
