The Match Factory Girl 8/10 - A tale of solitude that hit me hard in my recent state of mind, which turns to the dark absurd for the finale.

Shoplifters 8/10 - A sweet film with a lot of life values to take from it. Itching to go shoplifting now.

A Place In The Sun 8/10 - Everyone is pretty nuts in this film. Just how far would you go for Elizabeth Taylor?

Redline 8/10 - Rewatching this on Blu-Ray was a real treat. Anime Wacky Racers with a touch of kaiju.

Border. 3/4. Indescribable without giving too much away. Just watch it. It’s free on All 4 for the next week.

And I’m half an hour into mother! and it’s already stressing me.

Heavy Metal - 6/10

Weird movie, seemingly made by a bunch of really horny stoners. The inclusion of the Mob Rules was pretty cool though.

Joker 7/10 it's fine, nothing really happens and it ends the same as it begins. Whoever thought this should have won best picture over Parasite is an idiot.

Beneath the Planet of the Apes 6/10 Luckily it's short, still liked bits of it, but it goes a bit weird towards the end.

Spoilers for a 50 year old film.

The reveal of the telepathic humans wasn't great and everything from then onwards is classic day time 70s movie on Freeview channel 178. The very ending though was a bit shocking!

I'm sure Fox will be amazed that they made money off rentals for a film half a century old.

Uncut Gems - 9/10

Things have obviously been going far too easily for me during lockdown so I decided to watch what Empire described as a "feature length panic attack" to mix it up a bit.

Thought it was well good though, quite fancy trying to import an opal from Ethiopia myself, seems like a right laugh.

mother! x/y. Insane and brilliant. Apparently starbreaker hated it, which tells you all you need to know.

I thought mother! was excellent. Pretty sure I'm in the minority though.

Watched something called, I can't even remember, Murder Mystery, I think. Adam Sandler and Rachel from Friends. It was proper gooseberry fool. Really bad. I didn't even feel aroused when Gemma Arterton was on screen, because the film was so awful.

It's looking like a pretty cool minority so far :)

Just watched Inception again and it's bloody marvelous.

All the cast are fantastic, the story is just endlessly watchable and the soundtrack is masterful.
10/10  .

This movie is really rubbish in places, but it is really interesting in others. I absolutely love the hymn bit with the out of tune organ. It's so unsettling.

The ending makes absolutely no sense when you look at the ending of the first movie (Taylor essentially copying the mistake that he was so enraged by). It's still a complete WTF and it's pretty depressing to boot.

The movie doesn't really work but it's still really fascinating to me.

Roman Holiday 7/10 - Sweet feel good day out with Audrey Hepburn. Made me miss the city, and also want to watch more Fellini.

Got Escape from the planet of the Apes to watch this weekend which I've read is the best of the sequels.

Knives Out: 8/10 Really fun murder mystery which makes a bit of sense (unlike murder on the Orient Express).

Aqua Man 1/10 looked like a video game, Aqua Man had no charisma, was a load of noise. I just wanted to watch something light hearted and fun.

In that vain

Shazam 7/10 Absolutely standard plot but had some reasonable gags. Clichéd but enjoyable.

As with most of these movies the final fight is too long.

Shazam is way better than it has any right to be. Took me by surprise given that most/all of the DC movies are hot garbage.

Shazam has a great cast, good villain motivation, a rare good post credit scene and a great final battle.

Wish my image sig would work
