So you patronised a woman for a good effort but didn't hold her up to the same standard as a man?

Her vagina didn’t have anything to do with anything, to me. It was an important movie aye, but I didn’t look at it differently.

Dunno, sounds like they forgot Ripley exists.

Aliens 7/10- Fun, but it's not a patch on Alien.

Darkman 8/10 - The whole fun fair scene was killer. I hope they let Raimi go all out for Dr. Strange 2.

Star Trek First Contact - 8/10

Love this film. Love the Borg. I can get over movie Picard being a little different to TV show Picard. I wish the battle with the Cube had gone on a little longer. That sequence is awesome.

Star Trek Insurrection - 6/10

Some of the scenes in this seems like outtakes. I wasn't really into the plot of this.

Mother! 6/10

I thought this was commentary on the cult of celebrity until the end. Weird film. Not sure it was really that effective.

I'd heard there was a 'hidden' message/theme so I was trying to figure it out while watching. My guess was some sort of allegory for the journey of someone with terminal cancer!

Did anyone get it without knowing beforehand?

The General 4/10

So this was inherently hard to rate. It's a 1920s Buster Keaton Silent film.

As a piece of social history it's very interesting and is well made, and at the time I'm sure it was a big thing (though at the time it wasn't received that we'll).

On the other hand, the film has no words. It's interesting but doesn't compare with today's modern super writers. Though a 4 for a film almost 100 years old is pretty good.

I'd recommend North by Northwest as your next port of call.

Totally agree,it's a great film.

Cargo - 6/10

Didn't hate it, but I never felt really invested in Martin Freeman which is a shame because I thought the ending was quite well done. Suffers the classic zombie movie issue of "plot being driven by people making stupid decisions" which is frustrating and just takes you out of the moment. Doesn't outstay its welcome at least.

I genuinely got to there thinking you were talking about "Fargo" and had made a typo.

Perfect Blue 9/10 - I forgot how violent this was.

The Ladykillers 5/10 - Bit dated though I like the concept.

1917 - 9/10

Fantastic stuff, the way they filmed it too was incredible.
