Last film you watched and your rating

I always struggled with games like Resi or Dino Crisis (at least on the PS1 anyways), the controls were always so unintuitive and clunky i found it impossible to get anywhere without being slaughtered.

Happy Gilmore. Love this film so much. Hadn’t seen it in years. 8/10.

Definitely the worst blockbuster I've seen in years. I actually enjoyed the previous film bit this was just largely poor throughout, felt like basically two different films as well. I honest to God don't know, I could never get more than half an hour into it.

I think I played a demo on a demo disc.

Resi at least had slow, shuffling zombies that gave you a window to escape. The dinosaurs in Dino Crisis would no sooner see you than rip your feckin' arm off!

Yep. I liked Jurassic World, but Fallen Kingdom left me open mouthed in horror at how bad it was.

It makes JP3 look like Citizen Kane.

I've never understood the hate that ALAN bit gets. It's a nightmare, it works in the context of someone dreading going anywhere near that island again.

One Cut Of The Dead

Japanese Horror/Comedy

Went into this completly blind, almost turned it off after 20 mins.

Carried on and finished it and it's brilliant. Such an unusual and clever film.

To say anything about the film would spoil it, but would highly recommend for people to watch and try and not know anything about it first.

Take Care Of Your Scarf, Tatiana 7/10- Sweet road movie fueled by vodka and coffee.

Onward - About what I had expected given the lukewarm reviews. It's not a bad film by any means, it's just not anywhere near Pixar's best. They've made much funnier, much more heart warming films. It isn't completely without charm and does have a nice message and some good voice talent. A bit disappointing overall though. 6/10

Sonic - Better than I had expected to be honest. Was similar to Detective Pikachu in being a pleasant surprise when on paper it sounded like a disaster. The buddy dynamic works pretty well and I liked the Sonic design & characterisation. Jim Carrey just does Jim Carrey as Robotnik, but that's not necessarily a bad thing and he is quite funny. Liked the sequel teaser too! 7/10

Couldn't sleep again last night so turned to Disney+ for more midnight movie action with a rewatch of this:

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 - 9/10
Such a great movie and again it's the pacing and incredibly well handled introduction and subsequent interaction between all of these characters that makes it work so well. Having watched some of the truly awful DC movies where they fumble both the plot and weaving together of multiple character's stories so badly this was another treat to be reminded of how well it can be done.

Absolute top tier soundtrack as well

Ready or Not - ****

Really took me by surprise at how good it was. Slick shocks, decent laughs, cool premise. Surprising amount of gore but done well (no weirdo)

The Truth 5/10 - A sweet film about an aging actress who writes an autobiography which is far from the truth. Very twee with constant bickering.

Palm Springs 8/10 - Fun twist on the Groundhog Dog theme. Samburg was his usual likeable self and had great chemistry with Cristin Milioti.

Drifting Clouds 9/10 - A recession comedy that gave me more hope than a Ken Loach movie.

Frozen 2 - 6/10 - thought the first half of it was a bit meh, second half was better, didn't like any of the songs either.

From Russia With Love - 6/10

Not as good as Dr No, the train scenes were decent, but the sudden tacked on 'let's have some explosions' climax with the helicopter and boats seemed unnecessary.

I've been watching these on ITV too because I've never seen the old Bond films but now they're skipping Goldfinger next week and going straight to Thunderball??
