Watched a bunch of films this weekend that I’ve got on BluRay that were in my “shall I keep or sell” pile.

Olympus Has Fallen - 7/10
I enjoy this far more than I should.

Once Upon A Time In The West - 8/10 a brilliant western
Ghostbusters 10/10 awesome movie and soundtrack

10/10 as always.

Single Cell producers Michael Stipe and Sandy Stern pitched the film to numerous studios, including New Line Cinema, who dropped the project after chairman Robert Shaye asked: "Why the strawberry float can't it be Being Tom Cruise?".[7] Jonze revealed in a September 2013 interview that Malkovich asked him the same question during their first meeting and also relayed Malkovich's attitude after filming commenced:

"Either the movie's a bomb and it's got not only my name above the title but my name in the title, so I'm strawberry floated that way; or it does well and I'm just forever associated with this character."

Also watched Jojo Rabbit last night. Really enjoyed it, thought it was very touching. It could really cut through when it wanted to, for example that utterly chilling Hitler speech out of nowhere and the obvious moment with Jojo tying his mum's shoes.

Favourite maybe-apocryphal anecdote from BJM: the scene where the guy throws a beer can at John Malkovich's head screaming "Think fast Malkovich!" was unscripted and was an extra goofing off. Jonze loved it so much he kept it in and gave the extra more money as he was now a speaking part.

The scene when a can is thrown at John Malkovich's head is real. Malkovich has described how Spike Jonze wanted to cut it due to running late that night, expecting that no one would be able to hit him on the head with a half-full can of beer from a passing car, when about 70 or 80 sets of hands shot up on the crew saying that they would like to try. Eventually the task fell to John Cusack's writing partner and he nailed it on the first try.

Gladiator

Wow. I think I last saw this when I was a teenager but I didn't appreciate just how good it is. It really is very good. Masterful score by Hans Zimmer as well.

I've been meaning to watch this again. I thought it was okay, but I didn't get the hype. Definitely intend to give it another viewing.

The death dream wheat field sequence is stunning in the gladiator.

I think it says a lot about the film that all my favourite scenes don't even take place in the arena. Commodus' decent is amazing - Pheonix is brilliant in the role.

Marathon Man 8/10- Quite a different plot from what I was expecting. Enjoyed it non the less!

The Royal Tenenbaums 6/10 - Didn't enjoy as much as some of Anderson's more recent stuff. Non plot of which to speak!

The Prestige 9/10 Think I maybe enjoyed this more on this second viewing as

Tenenbaums is probably still my favourite Anderson film, probably because his thing had yet to feel tired by that point

I have yet to see a Wes Anderson film that I actually like.

I've only ever seen Fantastic Mr Fox. I really cussword enjoyed it but haven't bothered with his other cussing stuff.

Huh, seems like he was entertained. Go figure.

Bram Stoker's Dracula - 7/10

I liked this. Some of the performances were crap. The movie has some nice imagery.
