One of the best British films ever and an amazing ending. Up there with Oldboy and I Saw The Devil for tales of revenge.

Jack Reacher - 7/10

This was on ITV last night so I sat through it, being a fan of the trash books when I was a teenager.

Good fun thriller action, with Herzog obviously having a great time as the baddie.

I do enjoy the fact that the books famously go out of their way to not physically describe Jack Reacher in any way, other than the fact he is "very tall". So let's get Tom Cruise to play him.

Dredd - 8/10

Karl Urban is great. Really like the scaled down plot of this - setting it entirely in one building block was a very good idea.

The 40 year old version - 9/10

Likable main characters with a lot of laughs to be had alongside a poignant message. Has really stuck with me.

I rewatched Dredd a couple of months back and I think it's already aged badly. It's still enjoyable but all the 3D and slow mo stuff really drags it down. Even the action was weaker than I remembered. Best thing is Karl Urban and the music. And the intro is pretty good.

I’m Thinking of Ending Things - 6/10; enjoyed the film but didn’t have a clue for the last quarter had to watch an ending explained video on YouTube.

Global Convoy - 7/10; essentially a travel documentary buying two cars one for £75 and another for £150 [iirc]. Setting off from London trying to get round the world with little money and the generosity of the local folk [Amazon Prime].

Peninsula [Sequel to Train to Busan] - 5/10; watchable not terrible just not a patch on the original.

Extraction - 7/10; Chris Hemsworth goes Jason Bourne in India, best action film I’ve seen in a long time.

Parasite - 9/10

This is a film that is worthy of the hype. That second half of it was just....WTF.

Easily.

I watched it last night and I thought it was brilliant.

At the moment watching 3 hollywood epic classic movies all with a run time over 3 hours. First time watching these films

Spartacus - 10/10 amazing set pieces and sequences
Laurence of Arabia - 10/10 - the scope of desert is captured brilliantly and the vastness of the surroundings really puts you in the action some brilliant cinematography, great soundtrack

Ben Hur tomorrow

This genuinely took me a while to work out there wasn’t some secret Judge Dredd film from the early 80s I didn’t know about.

Three Identical Strangers - 9.5/10

A documentary on triplets who were separated at birth. A fascinating story that turns into a sad tale as the truth of what happens comes to light.

I posted about this earlier this year. Very sad and quite awful.

Yeah, I totally understand the researchers wanting to do it, but the lack of morals when they actually did it was horrible

Edit: It was also mind blowing that the bloke behind it was somebody that fled the Nazis. strawberry float me, if there's anything that should put you off experimenting on humans!!

Dredd is great but it does sometimes feel like a 're-skin' of The Raid made for western audiences.

Bumble Bee

I heard it was the best transformers film. Its OK, more of a teen film with CGI action bits. 5/10.
I really like Hailee Steinfeld. I hope she writes the theme tune and sings the theme tune for the Hawkeye series.

Because there is little else to do at the moment, i've ordered a whole bunch of blu rays recently from amazon and hmv (some arrived today, while others have only just been ordered)...

Venom
The Theory of Everything
The Greatest Showman
Goodbye Christopher Robin
Jojo Rabbit
Taxi Driver
Project Almanac
Hot Fuzz
The Last Samurai
The Untouchables
Monsters: Dark Continent

Some i've not seen in years, while others i've never seen, so at least i should have something to keep me busy for a bit.
