Watched 'Taxi Driver' last night for the First time.

Was alright, don't think it belongs in the same echelon as 'Goodfella's or Shawshank etc'.

Deniro was great, as was Jodie Foster, but it had a lot of shonky bits as well. It may just be a product of it's time and it's a bit dated and old hat now its been copied so many times since.

7/10

Saw Onward last night.

Yea, fun enough. I think it had a bit too much going on though thematically, as there's about 4 key 'emotions' running through it and they don't really mesh well together. It does get wrapped up quite nicely but it means that several of the character resolutions just seem to come out of nowhere a bit, leaving you asking 'wait, was that meant to be a thing?'. It's got a bit of the problem that Bright had in mixing fantasy and reality in a that gave very little thought to the world-building which gives it a hell of a lot of fridge logic to a lot of the plot points.

Sure kids'll love it though.

Project Almanac - 9/10

Awesome time travel movie, felt fresh and different compared to others of the same genre.

The Greatest Showman - 9/10

Top tier musical, a modern classic!

Scars of Dracula 5.5/10
Fun if campy Hammar Dracula film, Lee was great and whilst it's showing it's age, it's a decent time.

Goodbye Christopher Robin - 8/10

Quite a sad story at times, and the performances were excellent.

Mortal Kombat Legends Scorpion Revenge 8/10
Really fun Mortal Kombat animation, that delivers a pretty great story, brisk length and plenty of gory moments.

Have you seen The Raid? You'll like it too. As mentioned they're both a reskin of Game of Death ;)

An epic classic indeed. Worthy of its 10/10. Gets better every time I've seen it.

Children of the Corn - 5/10

Dated and I wasn't really into it. Linda Hamilton has some nice scenes at the start of it though.

Halloween - 7/10

Never seen this before. I liked it, the music was a bit overbearing at times. Some good kills.

Bone Tomahawk - 8/10

Loved this, it's a very slow moving film for large parts of it, but it keeps your attention despite that. It is absolutely brutal at certain points. It has probably the worst thing I've seen in a movie (topping that door scene in Green Room). Gonna have to get this one on disc.

Stan and Ollie - 7/10

This had some lovely, heartfelt scenes at the end. It was slow for the most part. Well acted, not sure about Coogan's accent.

Terminator - Dark Fate - 7/10

I liked it. It isn't anywhere near T2, but it's solid enough, and it's better than Genesys, Salvation and T3. The idea of the new Terminator was pretty cool. They could have done with someone more intimidating though.

Personal History of David Copperfield - 5/10

Good cast, good performances and had individually entertaining moments but I found the whole thing a bit of a slug ultimately. The story just wasn't engrossing enough and I just didn't care about what was going to happen next. Sorry Charles.

:dread: I didn't think that bit in Green Room could be topped in gross stakes. I was wrong.

I've heard so much about this but somehow managed to avoid what 'that thing' is.

I need to get on this before it gets spoiled for me.

I'm obviously really desensitised to violence as I didn't bat an eyelid at Bone Tomahawk.

Might have to watch this Bone Tomahawk this afternoon. Sounds like it'll be worth a wank.

Boner Shaped Tomahawk

***

I enjoyed the tense, slow burn of cowboys on a journey but I felt the quality nose-dived when the Tarkatan warriors came along with their Mortal Kombat flavoured violence.

Really great build up in the first half that ultimately led to an unsatisfying ending.
