Just bought Vantage Point on DVD very cheaply. Blockbusters had a 3 for £10 sale on, and so i also got Cloverfield and i can't remember the other one.

Anyway, I haven't seen it yet.

But the first person i told that i'd bought it gave away the big twist without giving me a chance to say i hadn't seen it yet. DAMN.

You Don't Mess With The Zohan - 5/10

The film had a lot of potential and at times used the Israeli stereotype perfectly. The rest of the time it was just far too lazy, bland and all over the place to be really, really enjoyable plus a weak performance from the usually good John Turturro. Give this one a skip at the cinema until it comes down to a cheaper price or even tv at the least.

KM31 - 7/10

J-Horror styled Mexican film. One half of a set of identical twins runs over a young boy on a deserted road, gets knocked down herself, has her legs amputated and goes into a coma. Her twin must solve the mystery and rescue her sister.

The beginning and middle ave very good - atmospheric and slightly creepy. The ending is just a confused mess.

No Country For Old Men

7/10

I don't know what to think of this at all. I loved it till Llewlyn got owned, i was sooo gutted. Then of course you don't know whether wifey dies or not. Then police man has a dream and it just ends. Before Llewlyn Dies 9/10, after he dies 5/10.

Hellboy - 7/10

An enjoyable comic book movie, here's hoping that HB2 is just as good. (I've heard really good things, but then I heard really good things about Cloverfield & many other movies and they all turned out to be pants)

The Dark Knight - 8/10

Watched it again last night (by myself) & although I found it more enjoyable than I did the first time I watched it I still had a few problems with key scenes/character developments.

The boat scene still doesn't sit right with me, on a boat of what I suspect are brutal murderers/rapists & the like, not one of them tries to take the detonator? :?

The sonar/phone scene was also too OTT for my liking. Still, it will make for an interesting plot device in the third movie especially when/if The Riddler gets his hands on it.

Finally, Harvey Dent's fall from grace. It was pointed to a couple of times during the movie (when he was about to shoot the fake cop) but his willingness to kill felt forced & almost ruined the movie.

Still a fantastic movie though & definitely one the best movie I have seen this year.

Dark Knight spoilers

Harvey was never going to shoot the fake cop. He told him if the coin went tails he would shoot him but it was a two sided coin.

The Wizard of Gore (2007) - This is the sort of remake I can live with. I've not seen the original but from what I gather it was good but flawed and this remake fleshes out the plot a bit more and keeps the gore and naked ladies 8-)

The film is about a magician (Crispin Glover) who performs illusions in which he seems to actually kill the female volunteers, but then the lights go out and when they come back on the girls are fine and it was just a trick all along. Except a few days later the bodies of these volunteers are found and they have the same injuries as inflicted by the magician.

8/10

It's worth watching just to see that towel torture that Jack Bauer describes in S1 of 24

300 - 5/10. Nice visual style, but far too homo-erotic for my liking!

Yeah, I saw that, and I completely agree with your view of the ending.

The Director almost had some pretty cool horror stuff going on at the end, though, with the image of her sister dragging herself - replete with her horrifically damaged lower legs - pitifully along the sewer pathway, and then the visage of the ancient drowned woman, floating in the air but looking like she was underwater, making all sorts of terrible howls. But then....he strawberry floated it up. When he made that floaty water ghost transform into a screaming ghoul that came towards the screen, it just seemed exactly like the bit where the lovely angels transform into horrible demons in Raiders of The Lost Ark and...come towards the screen.

If he'd just left it. It had me unsettled and slightly sad, then muttering 'for strawberry float's sake' soon after.

I wouldn't be so generous with the rating. 5/10 for me.

I thought most of it was very good - certainly an 8 or 9. The ending was a 4 or 5, so I gave it the benefit of the doubt.

Dark Knight 9.5/10

Excellent film but a few minor issues stop it being amazing, most notably as earlier mentioned

Harvey Dents fall from Grace, he was the white knight, the symbol of justice yet he suddenly becomes a crazed killer in a matter of hours? ok so he seeks revenge on those who wronged him, but why hold kids hostage? made no sense in the context of the character they developed. The entire ending hinged on how much of a good guy Dent was, so much that batman took responsibility to save his name. So after spending 2 hours showing he was prepared to risk his life for justice, why they had the sudden reversal in the last 30 mins is beyond me

I've just noticed that Dead Man's Shoes is on Channel 4 at 11:40pm tonight, so I'll probably stay up to watch that one.

Film Four are showing a few decent horror films this week too, such as The Descent and 28 Days Later. The pick of the bunch is Suspiria though, tomorrow night at 11:30pm.

Except...

It was destroyed at the end of the film by Mr Morgan Freeman after he raised eyebrows over the invasion of privacy aspect.

Agree with you on the Harvey Dent side though.

I meant that it introduced the technology, which means that anyone (possibly a disgruntled former employee) could obtain the plans & create his/her own.

Ah, I see what you mean. It's possible but I doubt they'd re-do it, it always screamed sociopolitical commentary to me.

Whenever the journalists mention this to the Nolans they say Batman's been doing it in the comics for years.
