Fantastic new entry in the currently dying zombie/infected genre.

It's not very long (less than 90mins) but in that it manages to be one of the most atmospheric & sometimes chilling movies I have seen for quite some time.

I highly recommend everyone watch it at least once.

How does it compare to 28 Weeks Later? Also, any other zombie-esque movies you would recommend?

That's been on my to watch list for such a long time now, I've really got to get round to watching it. Any other must watch anime titles that I should look into if I like Akira?

And anyone else seen Pineapple Express yet?

I love the opening scene of Léon.

Jean Reno just reeks of cool in it.

I went to see 'The Mummy: Jet Li Is Clay!', or whatever it's called, on Friday. It is, comfortably, one of the worst films I have seen. Terrible.

Also, I watched 'Apocalypto' on BluRay last night, which was decent.

It's much better than 28 Weeks Later, not as good as 28 Days Later or the Dawn of the Dead remake.

It's definitely a movie that should be watched if you like the zombie genre.

Ok cheers. Did it just come out in the cinema in the UK then?

Am I retarted for thinking 28 Weeks Later is better than Days?

I rewatched both recently, and after judging Days to be better I actually changed my mind. The first 10 minutes of 28 Weeks Later is by far the most intense and atmospheric stretch of scenes in the two films, and everything feels a lot more intense. Days was still good, but felt a little too amateurish at times - not in style, just in the way it was filmed.

If it wasn't for the last 30 minutes or so, it would easily beat 28 Weeks Later, but I'm starting to prefer the sequel now.

Yeah i thought Weeks was much better than Days. Haven't seen the 2004 Dawn of the Dead remake in a while so can't compare the two. I think the sheer scale of the ifnection in Weeks was much better put than in Days. Does anyone know how they were able to get those London streets so clear?

Can't wait for 28 Months Later though. Has anything been mentioned about it?

I like 28 Days Later but I really liked Weeks. It's one of my most enjoyed films I've seen in the last year. I really like the music in it.

I didn't like the 2nd half of Days as much as the first half.

It's out on DVD, it had a very limited UK cinema release which is a real shame.

The upcoming Quarantine is a US remake of the movie, there's a trailer posted in the movie news thread. (I suggest watching it after REC as it has a very big spoiler regarding the fate of one of the main characters)

I believe Akira is the best of it's genre (from what I've seen). It would be best to watch other manga films before it. My personal favourites are the Ghost In The Shell films, fantastic stuff, they get better with each repeated viewing.

Not that much, Boyle has confirmed that he will be directing it & he'd like to set the movie in Russia.

The movie is currently down for a 2009 release.

I saw a trailer for [REC] when I went to see The Orphanage. It looked quite good although I never got round to seeing it. I'll try to get the DVD at some point though.

I did watch the trailer for Quarantine, but to me it didn't look that good. I can't remember the spoiler so I'll be fine for when I get round to watching [REC].
