The first one was better I thought and the story was so weak.

Dallas Buyers Club - 8/10

McConaughey and Leto on unbelievable form. You could argue that the performances over-shadow the narrative a bit, but that would be nit-picking. Entertaining and heart-breaking in equal measure.

I was about to say that I watched Frozen and it baffles me how any grown man could really enjoy it. Just felt like I was watching a film made for children and couldn't get involved with it, I felt the same about Toy Story 3 but to a lesser extent. Nowhere near as good as tangled.

What the hell am I reading. Frozen is every bit as good as Tangled.

How were you ok with Tangled but not with Frozen? They're incredibly similar films stylistically (Rapunzel and Flynn even show up in Arendelle and don't stand out) and structurally.

Also, RE: The character design, if they did 'realistic' looking characters you'd end up in souless uncanny valley Polar Express territory. They're still cartoons, so the visual style is still cartoony.

And no film made solely for children would ever feature the line "why have a ballroom with no balls?"

The Dark Knight Rises

An outstanding blockbuster in many ways, but it's not as emotionally engaging as the previous two films and has several structural+plotting issues. Still one hell of a ride though, my dad liked it more than TDK surprisingly!

Frozen was much more of a girl's film, Tangled was actually funny with a much more interesting and less predictable story, can't remember any funny lines from Frozen, but like I said I was falling asleep Half of the dialogue in Frozen is replaced with cheesy pop songs, the opening sequence bit with the 'do you want to make snowman?' song was almost insufferable for me. I didn't want photo realistic characters but I just thought the characters looked a bit weird, like they were all made out of cake or something, there was no artistic style behind the CGI.

Also the snowman character, which I unsurprisingly forgot, basically a humourless void unless your about 5 but otherwise no. And I'm 20, not a bitter old man (on the outside).

No-one who's really grown up would ever say that Disney is just for children.

I was having this conversation at work earlier (totally bought the Lion King limited edition and was trying to justify it to the guy who sits behind me). They're universal, you can enjoy them whatever the age (if you don't like Up, for example, you're dead inside, simple as). They're not guilty pleasures and it shouldn't be embarrassing to like them, they're great films.

I thought up got a bit boring at the end of the first third, after that it becomes a dreamworks film in terms of appeal. Lion King's a different story because it's hamlet for strawberry float's sake
