There are plenty of games where your only goal is to walk through an artistically rendered environment.

I never 'got' Journey. And I loved Flower. Can somebody explain to me why they thought it was so amazing?
Me neither, 7 at best.

You don't get it, Fade. It's fine, though.

I thought It was incredible too, and sceptical to start. The atmosphere, the music and the visuals. It's fantastic how it builds to a crescendo, so simple, and yet somehow it had the hairs on the back of my neck standing up.... Time to play again.

Classic example of a game taking elements from lots of sources (Metroid, Mr Driller, Spelunky, Dark Souls) and making something all of its own. Starts slowly but quickly becomes addictive and atmospheric. Well worth a look.

Not sure it needed a "final boss" though. Seemed incongruous with the rest of game, as if the devs felt they had to put one in.

Loved this game. Very addictive, I wanted more.

There is a tower defense game on the Dsiware store which is set in the same universe. Not the same game, but if the style appeals it might be worth a look. Not sure of the name, but it has Steam in the title.

Boom Blox Bash Party 6/10 Didn't think this sequel added anything of worth, except for online level sharing, which is no longer active.

Mighty Switch Force! (3DS)

Love this. Great design, fantastic soundtrack, fiendish without being frustrating and generally a blast. Seen the credits but far from done - still need to beat all those par times and the bonus levels.

Think it was Squinty who said the second game was more of the same, so I'll probably wait until the new year before I play that.

Finally finished Starfox Adventures (not for the first time, but the first time in quite a while), and thank strawberry float that's over. I used to absolutely love the game but by today's standards it's totally devoid of any depth whatsoever. Some horrendous difficulty spikes towards the end, too - quite jarring against the relative simplicity of the rest of the game. All in all, I'm pretty sure I have now exorcised this particular demon so it can wing its merry way onto eBay, where I have no doubt I will recoup the full worth of the game.

Starfox Arbitrary Task - £4/10.

I finished CoD Ghosts on PS4 last night and it was pretty good.
The main downside for me was the depiction of torture which should have been implied in the story but certainly not something I'm forced to do. I'm not a fan of the series so I'm not sure if that sort of thing makes a regular appearance but it seemed designed only to get a press reaction.

The game itself though I'd give a 7.5 or maybe an 8 tops.

Addicted to 2 handheld games this past week.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds - 9/10
Tearaway - 9/10
Both were phenomenal! I never imagined that two of my favorite games this year would be on a handheld system.

Guacamelee- 8

Really enjoyed that, been a while since I played a good Metroidvania. Good level of difficulty, didn't overstay it's welcome and was great fun to play throughout. Good looking game too, and the combat felt very balanced.

Cross-save was an amazing addition, hopefully there's more of this in future titles, it's a really handy feature. A cracking PS+ title.

Such a strawberry floating fantastic game. Easily one of the games of the generation.

CANNOT wait for Far Cry 4. Thinking about how good it could be makes me wet.

Guacamelee - 8/10

Probably the first Vita game that has really had me gripped from start to finish. The art style is fun, gameplay sublime, with plenty of variety between fighting and platforming and the way in which the powers and moves are introduced is done well.

The humour adds a lot of character too, and like final-fx says, it doesn't outstay it's welcome, my first game clocked in at 12 hours with something like 114% (?!) completion.

I decided to play on with Hard mode which netted me the platinum as well, and the only real difference is that the enemies deal more damage. A Ng+ mode would have been nice but with the way new moves introduce access to new areas, it probably wouldn't have worked.
