Yeah, there were loads of bits which didnt make sense.

And I thought the same thing when he said that. It would have been funny if it wasn't so true. The thing is, they could make the fights so much better by just removing the inevitable second and third waves that just crawl out of the woodwork.

i think the whole Sully thing was really odd. Elena built up this whole thing about not asking Sully to do such dangerous things and what not and then when Sully "dies" it's completely anticlimactic and just falls really flat.

Likewise, how Talbot survived being shot by Cutter is anyone's guess and just felt really odd.

And after just having tried to drown Sully, Talbot then has the bloody cheek to tell Nathan that he can't just let Marlowe die.

There were also times, like right at the end when Marlowe and Talbot are winching the thing out of the water and they don't know Nathan and Sully are there that you just have to ask yourself why they don't just shoot them in the face. As though slaughtering countless numbers of their men is fine but shooting Marlowe and Talbot is just something they wouldn't do, in some sort of "good guys don't kill the bad guys" way.

Why he bothered to even try to save Marlowe was a bit mystifying, too.

Bioshock Infinite 10/10

Lots of people have already expressed in ways far better than I am capable of why this is a masterpiece, so I'm not going to try.

But strawberry float me that was good.

my game of the year ......

until I played the last of us which I found significantly better. Both great games but the last of us will rightly be remembered as a true landmark game whereas bioshock infinite will always be compared to the first, and rapture >Columbia.

The last of us : the easiest 10/10 I've ever given.

I've not had the pleasure of playing The Last of Us, sadly I don't have a PS3. I was considering buying one but the price has never really hit the impulse purchase levels that I was looking for and now the PS4/XBOX One are imminent I don't feel like I'm ever likely to!

That said, and obviously I can't judge something I haven't played, it would have to go some way to best Bioshock Infinite for me. I don't know if it's the fact that I've got two young babies but the whole father-child angle of Infinite really hit hard with me.

One of the things that impressed me most was actually something I was dreading after how poor it was in both Bioshock and System Shock 2 - the combat. I adored the combat in this, it really worked for me in a way that I wasn't expecting. So as well as the compelling story and fantastic world building, the more "gamey" bits really worked too which was what really sealed the deal for me.

If you liked the father child relationship stuff in infinite you HAVE to play the last of us. Takes the concept to a whole new level. You need to beg steal or borrow a ps3!

Now i Love bioshock infinite and didnt think a game would top it in 2013 bu I was totally unprepared for how good the last of us was.

The story is intriguing, thought provoking and logical. Despite covering familiar ground it never feels cliche.

Both games left me thinking about them after I finished. Whilst bioshock has an arguably more intelligent ending open to interpretation. The last of us has a defined ending but nevertheless still left me wanting to discuss it and argue about the final moments.

Uncharted 2 (9/10) and uncharted 3 (8/10)

Uncharted 2 is clearly the better game. The general mechanics have not really changed throughout the series (and you can see how TLoU is a progression of these mechanics). The fun factor in 2 was far greater, and felt, in general a lot more intense. The final segment of 3 was good, but in general just seemed to be a bit dull in comparison, despite some nice plot ideas.

Really enjoyed both games, and I'm glad I've played them. Having played Tomb raider on the 360 earlier this year, it's blatantly obvious that Tomb Raider plagiarised large portions of uncharted and replaced drake with Lara and a few other token efforts to cover up the fact it was a rather frankly shocking rip off, minus a big portion of the wackiness and fun elements. I'm only seeing this now after recently buying a PS3.

Shantae (GBC/3DS VC) - 7.5/10

Good graphics, with challenging levels though at times was annoying due to the games limited screen view.

The last of us.

10/10. Quite simply the most breathtakingly brilliant piece of gaming I've played this year and in a looong time.

Far Cry 3 - 9/10

Done nearly all there is to do on the game, just liberated the last outpost and got the last main game achievement, as well as collecting every relic and memory card and completing every side mission. And I loved it. Has its flaws but none of them really bother me at all, thought maybe the second island was a little short but got more than enough play out of it anyway. The dialogue between the character's was brilliant, particularly Hoyt, Buck, Sam and obviously Vaas.

Might get around to playing Blood Dragon, heard lots of good things about it. Think it's supposed to be on the Xbox 'sale' next week so I'll probably pick it up then.

Urban Trials Freestyle (Vita, PS+)

+ Great to have handheld Trials game
+ looks lush
+ handles well
+online leaderboards & ghosts on time trial tracks
+ nice level design in places

-too short (levels and the overall game)
- too easy (compared to console Trials HD)

Overall I loved it. 9/10 as a game experience. 10/10 as a freebie

Jak and Daxter: The Precusor Legacy (Vita)

Not bad, but some frustrating moments due to the fiddly controls. The last two levels are a pain in the arse because of it. Also some cheap platforming design going on here. For example, there's a level where you have to race to the end before the enemies do and blew you up... There's a long ramp that you must have your "bike" do a jump... Only that there's an explosive barrel RIGHT in front of the landing zone. BOOM. You have to restart the level again. Due to the dodgy controls when in vehicles (even worse than on foot!) it's frustrating.

Overall I did enjoy it as I was missing the 3D platforming genre. The last 3D platformer game I finished was Super Mario Galaxy 2 just few weeks after it got released.

6/10

God of war 3

Damn that was good. Been years since I played a god of war game.

It's very pretty, brutal and awesome. The scale of the game is unmatched, always has been I think. But the boss battles, finishing moves, general combat, is brilliant.

Comfortable 8/10

Oh and the story, for a violent action game was actually pretty interesting.

Onto ascension now

Super Luigi U - 8/10

Don't know if I will have the motivation to get all the Star Coins. I really enjoyed it nonetheless.
