As with the film and TV threads, post in here about the last place you visited and what you would rate it.

The Big Pit - 9/10

https://museum.wales/bigpit/

I took my son here yesterday and we had a great afternoon. It's an old coal mine that's now a museum. As part of the tour, you get to go down into the mine and see what it's like.

I am way too tall to be a coal miner, but I loved the tour, even if I bumped my head thousands of times.

The kitchen - 6/10

Found some nice tomatoe and mascapone soup in the fridge but it was a little messy and somebody needs to do the washing up.

Would recommend overall but does need some TLC

Hampton Court Palace - 9/10

Awesome place to visit, plus this time it provided a great backdrop for filming a quacky duck video.

We visited this last year, really enjoyed the tour and getting an insight into what would have been a dangerous job.

New York 7/10

Honestly some amazing sights but it's just awkward to get around as everything is so spread out and everything is so damned expensive. It feels like everyone there driving is on some kind of suicide mission as well as soon as you get out of Manhattan and the roads start to open up/people actually gain the ability to move their car without it being stop start traffic with people honking their horns all day with people changing lanes constantly without indicating, doing u-turns in the middle of busy roads and skipping red lights (I saw all of these in a single week multiple times). It made me appreciate just how close together and easy to get to everything is in London. All the major things to do are mostly centralised and even without the underground everywhere is within relative walking distance if you have time.

There is one place in New York I absolutely loved.

Central Park 10/10

Honestly I can't believe how much I loved Central Park, going there I really didn't understand how the hell I was even in New York anymore, there's areas of the park where you can't even see the skyline around you and can't hear all the hustle and bustle of the near constant traffic of the roads outside of it. It was so peaceful.

There's plenty of people around, but everyone is just chilling somewhere with loads of people around the park playing various kinds of music and plenty of wildlife and scenery to take in. I could have spent an entire week there given the chance.

Mumbles - 8/10

We had a family day out on Sunday and as it was hot, we decided to go to a seaside that we hadn't been to before.

It was a wise choice! Beautiful place, even if we had to drive through almost every street in Swansea as we were diverted due to a half marathon.

Just looked it up. No, we didn't go that far along. But it looks pretty, if/when we go back then we'll definitely check it out.

I also went to Wales recently, technically not for the first time but realistically for the first time. A week in Tenby. We had a really great time, although the weather was intense, and I've had my fill of sun and then beach for probably the next several years.

Surprisingly decent food, in particular the Indian and Thai offerings. I think it's quite likely we'll go back at some point.

Edit - stopped off in Cardiff on the way there. Somehow we ended up following a main sewage pipe to get into the centre . Had a brief look around the docks.

Went to Dragor, which is near Copenhagen airport. Nice little place. Right beside the sea. Went and visited the seaside fort they have. Walked a good bit along the coast. Had decent ice cream on our way back. Saw a jazz band playing in an outdoor bar.

I would be great if it wasn't in Denmark. 3/10 by association.
