The 5th and 6th episode of series 3 are just fantastic, reminded me very much of Tyrion’s trail in series 4 of Game of Thrones, no flashy special effects, just brilliant acting.

I’m not sure how series 4 is going to compare to it, first episode is alright but I think after the last two in series 3 it was always going to feel a little slow. Edit, should really wait till the credits roll before posting about an episode :fp: End of that episode got out of hand very quick

4 is a good season, 5 is the bad one. 6 is good again.

The Sweeney - 8/10

it's like the Piledriver of TV cop shows. It's far better than a lot of modern stuff.Great performances and great writing from one and all and a show where a boot in the bollocks actually hurts.John Thaw was brilliant in this him and Dennis Waterman had great chemistry thru the series. Series 4 is the weakest

Flight Attendant - 5/10
The central mystery kept me interested and its entertaining in a pulpy trashy way; but it's so goofy stupid and ridiculously convenient to the point of annoyance. Basically, it annoyed the hell out of me.

The Mole - 8/10
A documentary following one man's 10 year journey infiltrating North Korea. Its an amazing story that starts off simple and gets more nuts as it goes along, as he spirals down a rabbit hole of intrigue. It's in 2 parts (60mins each), on BBC iplayer at the mo. Recommended!

Finished watching Battlestar Galactica (2004) last night.

Whilst I'm really glad I've finally got round to watching this I cant help but feel it missed the potential it had early on. The first half was a gripping character drama with high stakes but the second was bogged down badly by doubling down on telling its story by using far too many visions/prophesies/destiny bollocks that I stopped caring about the characters. I can actually point to the moment early on in series 3 where Cylon 3 suddenly sees the child in a vision and knows the future and I just began switching off. I dont think the second half went as far as ruining it but post the occupation until finding Earth I was certainly much less invested. I thought it picked up again towards the end but then somewhat fumbled the climax leaving far too much left to the hand of god and I'm not even sure what was explained all made sense (the Cylons dont know the final 5 but also seem to have personal history with them? :| ) and thats if they bothered to explained it at all. Early on the religous stuff felt more like it was thematically exploring religion within its political system whilst providing a texture to the history of the worlds but later on it was more of a crutch to just make things happen. All that said it was rarely boring (the boxing ep probably being the biggest lull of all) and even during the second half there is plenty of good stuff inbetween the iffy crap.

A few other thoughts-
The normal Cylons are cool but by the end they were just fodder really. I'm sure at points earlier on they basically have to use explosive shots on them and it was tense.
Did they really find a cure for cancer and then ignore it? They didnt even seem to try and research the magic baby blood after they used it the first time. :|
Also LOL at the obvious cameraman during the arrow bit. At least give him a less obvious shirt colour.
I found the handheld shaky cam stuff waaaaay overused. You get use to it but strawberry float me its distracting when people are just talking. Makes the moments when its needed have less impact to.

AC-12 love making a power play don’t they  Storming into another office to seize all of their evidence

About a 1/3 of the way into S4 E3 of Line of Duty now, feels like its picking up a little but still can’t get over the fact that a few things just feel a little too convenient at times but I guess thats TV for you.

It definitely dips about 1/2-2/3 of the way through, yes. It got a bit too bogged down by the religious stuff for my liking.

But it's still mostly good to great and I'm actually thinking about a rewatch myself now.

EDIT: Oh and Fat Lee is amazing. Especially when Adama calls him on it.

I guess this is Line of Duty thread. Series 6 is getting so overly complicated, until they get into interview rooms with clear explanations and pictures, I have no idea what is going on or who they're talking about. The cliffhangers are also more annoying than exciting at this point too, just ruins the pace of things, particularly the one last night.

Am criticising but it's still the best thing the BBC are putting out.

No way Steve would actually walk away after the end of S4 E3 is there?

Got to love TV

Still thinking bout the Adama Maneuver.

The Fat Lee salute ruins that entire scene for me  It's absolutely wonderful up to that point. I'm getting old, I'm a little slow, but I'll be there

Adama might be my favourite character in anything. He's a strawberry floating boss.

I'm a total fanboy for the show tbh. I can identify the flaws with it. But the high points are so good with it that I can't help but love it. Best show I've seen after Breaking Bad.

Definitely finish off Clone Wars first (absolutely unreal last 4 episodes if you’ve enjoyed it so far), Rebels is set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope so comes after Clone Wars.

Finished off series 4 of Line of Duty this evening anyway, no series 3 finale but still very good.

Ted Lasso 10/10

Just an incredible show from start to finish and one that actually does optimism well. Most prestige shows tend to use peril and tension to push their narratives and I think this is the first example of one that instead uses optimism and hope to do the same. It's by no means toothless, there are several nasty pieces of gooseberry fool in here, but the way the show treats them relies on an understanding that no-one is born a wanker.

It's also just incredibly clever, full of lovely little moments and sub-plots, all of which are charming and heartfelt.

Towards the end I actually had to ration out the episodes as I probably would have watched it in a single go had I let myself. Every day I started with an episode felt genuinely more hopeful that usual.

I watched the pilot of The Fall. It was OK. Does it get better?
