Haha yeah this is definitely a thing. No wait, hold on guys, I just need to drop this massive pile of exposition before this big battle.

The Undergound Railroad - 9/10

This was a riveting watch. Brutal and rage-inducing but still completely absorbing. Barry Jenkins is so great at emoting tenderness on screen.

The Shield series 5 - 10/10

The show has been great up until now anyway, with series 4 taking it up a gear with Glenn Close taking the role of the barn's captain. But series 5, with the arrival of Forest Whitaker as an internal investigation officer, is just superb stuff. Acting is off the charts from the leads, and the cat and mouse game going on throughout is relentless. The finale is also one of the most distressing ones I've seen for a tv show, because you're so invested in *massive spoiler* Lem making his escape.

And the show only gets better from here. Amazing stuff.

Lost - Series 1 to 6 (Disney+)

I have watched the complete set of series back-to-back these past few months. It has been my second viewing and... well, I just didn't remember much of it all from my first watch!

I hugely enjoyed it. The first few series are perhaps the better ones; they create such a good sense of mystery and the many characters are so well portrayed. If anything there is a little too much going on at times but I was always eager to travel further into the adventure.

As can often be the case with long-running series, the ending didn't quite, for me, resolve all of the questions. It's intense and emotional but I'd wanted to know reasons behind what had happened and, really, there is none of that. The furious action and bizarre situations that had taken place over the course of the six series are instead covered by a quite unrelated, long and almost philosophical finish; what matters in life and where do we go from here? In my mind I had thought of the the ending as being disappointing after my first watch but, this time around, I found it more palatable; perhaps age has led me to relate to it better and - dang it! - I had several things stuck in my eye over the final hour :shifty:.

Even so, I always feel that the journey is of greater importance than the ending and this was a super series. I'd class is at being one of my favourites. [9]

Kastanjemanden (The Chestnut Man)

Slightly above-par Scandi-noir. I enjoyed it and all, but man alive are these things getting a bit samey. Couple of eye-roll inducing twists, but worth a watch anyway.

6/10

Just finished After Life series 3 - :cry:/10

Just brilliant in my opinion, probably won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but I’ve loved each of the 3 series there’s been, believe Gervais has said series 3 is the last one as well.

The Chestnut Man (Netflix) - 8/10

Really enjoyed this as my first proper foray into the "Nordic Noir" genre. There's something about those Scandinavians and crime thrillers, they just seem to get the tone and cinematography right. Acting was really good too, they were all great.

Also watched the first episode of Trigger Point on ITV and I thought it was a bit gooseberry fool. I can't put my finger on it, but the look of the programme (maybe the lighting?) made everything look really fake, and it seemed that they added in fake lens flare or bloom or something into nearly every scene which was quite distracting. Also the dialogue was terrible. Bye

Totally agree with this. I just finished this myself. Perfect end to a series IMO.

Ozark - Season 4 Part 1 - 9/10
Bit annoying that they split the season into two but this first part was brilliant. The stakes are higher than ever and things are coming to a head. My only minor gripe is the flashforward at the start of episode 1 kind of ruins some of the suspense as you know those characters survive, and it felt out of place anyway. Don't know why it was included.

Ozark - Season 4 (Netflix)
I just watched episode seven thinking it was the grand finale... and got a bit frustrated about how it ended.

Then I learnt that part two of season 4 (another seven episodes) is coming "later this year" :x  :toot: .

Started Snowpiercer series 3 today and when did Netflix start putting on an episode a week for some things? Either a way episode 1 was enjoyable but really predictable

Haven't actually finished it yet (2 episodes to go) but S7 (final one) of The 100 really isn't very good, there's some interesting concepts going on but it all feels like they've tried to cram two seasons into one final season and subsequently it all seems rushed.

There's also the usual thing with CW shows (other than almost every single character looking like fashion models) whereby characters make stupid/questionable decisions for no apparent reason.

Superstore. The first two or three seasons were really light and "easy watching" and good for it. Later it got a bit more serious and perhaps for me lost some of its appeal but was still OK. 8/10

Finished it, can't say the ending was great, reminds me of the end of Lost and Battlestar Galactica in that it ended in a fairly neutral and disappointing way but pretty much the only possible way it could end.

Clarke being the only one not to transcend was a little strange considering how many people characters like Echo and Octavia also killed, arguably Octavia was far worse than Clarke for thi.

Murphy becoming one of the most sympathetic characters was unexpected.

Thought the scene where they found Madi totally paralyzed a little uncomfortable to watch, having a stroke is one of my worst fears

The Expanse S5 - 8/10

It's a while since I watched it but I think after being somewhat disappointed with S4 I had intented to ditch The Expanse. Really glad, however, that I never and decided to give it another chance. Thought this season was really great, with a refreshing change of situtions for each of the main charcters. Really looking forward to S6 now.

Around The World in 80 Days - 7/10 - not a bad show, enjoyable, a good way to spend a sunday evening.

Car Share series 1 - 9/10 - always binge watch both seasons at some point every year. loves them.

We already know the answer to that question. The forum poll settled it for good.
