Dexter: New Blood. I can't decide if I'm happy with the ending or not. Obviously it wraps it all up and ends everything but I really liked how the show was working and would have loved to see another season of it based in the same town with the same characters.

Cobra Kai season 4. Simply both awesome and amazing.

Slasher season 4 - 6/10 - not a bad series but the weakest so far. Not many likable characters, but the gore was still on point.

I've been watching Attack On Titan. I don't have a massive amount of experience with anime outside of Ghibli stuff and old Manga movies, and this always seemed to get decent reviews and top 'best anime' polls so with a free Crunchyroll trial I thought I'd give it a go.

For the most part, it's excellent. That setting is brilliantly realised, the world is mostly believable and the titans themselves are a great threat. The first series is split between some Rocky-style training and a climactic battle. Oh, and one fairly major plot twist which had me floored.

The second season is weirdly short, and they changed the theme tune to something more gooseberry fool, which was annoying. Nevertheless it's action packed and despite my initial concerns, turned into a really entertaining spectacle. The scenes in the forest in particular were great.

And then, the third season. With the change of theme tune to something even more gooseberry fool than the second season, and a shift to more exposition and less titans, the first half of this is SLOW. I was almost considering calling it quits, so I had a quick peek on IMDB to see if it got any better. That's when I saw this.

So I carried on. And there's an obvious point in the middle where things change (even the theme tune changes back to something half decent again). The action ramps up, the plot falls into place. And yeah, those three episodes are strawberry floating incredible. I mean, seriously, top-tier TV. The payoff at the end of the season was great too, and I find myself excited to dive into the next series (which I believe is the last one). It's definitely worth the investment, even if the quality of episodes is wildly uneven in places. The highs more than make up for the lows.

Attack On Titan S1 - 8/10
Attack On Titan S2 - 8/10
Attack On Titan S3 - 9/10

I don't think we have a TV news thread so I'm sticking this in here.

I bet it will be gooseberry fool.

Quantum Leap was a part of that series of films and TV shows like The Wonder Years and Forrest Gump where American boomers could get nostalgic about the second half of the 20th century.

Nostalgia for the 90s and 2000s is getting its time now but not nearly in the same way as the 50s-70s has, so I just don't think this works.

I guess it depends how they do it. The rules of Quantum Leap were that he could only leap in his lifetime. If they stick to that then a new younger leaper would be doing the 80's and 90's. I'm not sure that quite works. If they change the rules so that all time periods are open, they can tap into nostalgia for any time.

But either way, I bet it will be gooseberry fool.

He ages while leaping, so they could get around that by saying as long as he's alive, he can leap around, which would cover up to the present day.

Edit: or just say "somehow Dr. Beckett survived."

I always kinda felt Quantum Leap was a bit naff to be honest, when it was on in the 90s. It was far from one of my favourite things to watch on TV at the time. I'm completely indifferent about it returning.

There's no way the reboot will have Bakula as the lead.

They met other leapers, and some people could see Sam as he really is, so they could have the main character meet him on one of the leaps. He could be just another character in the show, then they can see him for a SHOCKING reveal at the end of the series, which has already been ruined by the internet before the series even airs.

He'll definitely be in it, but I doubt it'll be more than a cameo. Bakula will not fit into the cool 90's Oasis gigs that will happen in every episode.

Final Space Season 1 8/10: I really liked it (again), characters are good for the most part, plot is tight, bit of humour. It's decent. The 2nd series seems to unravel a bit from what I've seen already/remember,

The Tourist

Bag of gooseberry fool. If this is "the show everyone's talking about" then it must be because it's such an incoherent babble of rubbish.

It feels like a group of analysts brainstormed a collection of ideas that they thought would be sufficiently mysterious, then set five minutes aside to figure out how to tie them all together, with the primary goal to do so with as many shitty twists along the way as possible.

They knew that as long as they landed Jamie Dornan for the lead role, enough people would watch it for it to be considered a success.

Just watched the final episode of The Expanse  .

Now that's how you end a series satisfyingly.
I'm not going to say anything about it other than it's excellent and an easy 10/10 ending  .

The Sci-Fi channel execs should be fired for letting this series go.

I couldn't have been more different with this show. I absolutely hated S3.

As another person who is not that experienced with anime, FMA Brotherhood is awesome, as is One Punch Man S1.

Even that bit? I couldn't fault the second half of the series at all, it was utterly gripping.

Thanks for the recommendations though, I'll add them to the list. I have to watch Haikyu next or SoK will kill me.

The show kept killing the pace of the action sequences and I started to get really annoyed with it by S3. Like something cool is happening and then it puts a character flashback or internal monologue right in the middle of it. The start of the season 3 is kinda dull as well. It generally felt like the guy who created it had to invent some magic gooseberry fool to get himself out of the hole he'd written himself into.
