Lovecraft Country 9/10

Absolute stunner of a series that gets better and better and better. Like mentioned before, it deals with a lot of the same issues as Watchmen and does it just as well: some episodes had our jaws on the floor from the start to the end and when things go off they go. Off.

In a year containing some of the best TV ever made, this really is up there.

Terrific series, feel the need to rewatch Hill House and then Bly Manor again, both amazing series.

I'm currently watching season one of Designated Survivor on Netflix. I'm enjoying it but I'm bemused as to why every scene has to have background music.

President looking concerned? Play quizzical music.
President disagreeing with aid? Play startled music.
President striding into a room? Play invigorated music.
President talking to wife? Play emotional music.

Literally* ten seconds can't pass without music playing.

*Literally.

Lovecraft Country 8/10

Just wow. Most of the time I was bemused at what I’m watching (but then I was never a huge follower of Lovecraft’s work.) but I enjoyed it from the start to end.

Most of the time I’m angry with the racists and their acts. The actors/actresses were totally brilliant.

I kinda don’t want a second season. It ends perfectly. Just have to wonder how the little girl can explain her new arm.

The Haunting of Bly Manor

9/10

Excellent, low key scares wrapped around a love story (or two...) which by the end packed a pretty large emotional wallop - great stuff.

I called off his players' names as they came marching up the steps behind him....All nice guys. They'll finish last. Nice guys. Finish last.

Wasted series 1 or Castlevania on Netflix this morning, didn’t know what to expect really but ended up really enjoying it! Probably an 8/10. Only 4 episodes so easy to binge other 2 series are 10 episodes each.

Community S4 - 4/10

Well this show turned to gooseberry fool very quickly. After racing through S1-3, this shorter season took me ages to get through. There are a few smiles but strawberry float all laughs.

I'm continuing with the last 2 seasons just to finish it, but am not expecting the show to be very enjoyable.

Season 4 is absolutely the nadir of the show. Opinions on 5 and 6 are still a bit mixed but pretty much everyone agrees they are an improvement on season 4.

I like both 5 and 6 and actually think that 6 is really bloody good for a swan song for the show - some of my favourite moments are from the final season.

That's good to know.

Even if it was gooseberry fool, they need to do a movie just to fulfil the 6 seasons and a movie prophecy.

I'm pretty sure the movie will happen sooner or later, pretty much everyone involved keeps saying they are up for it so it's just a case of lining it all up

Is season 4 the one with the Muppet episode?

One of the worst seasons of anything, ever.

Herstory of Dance, the episode with the Sadie Hawkins/Sophie B Hawkins dance, was probably my main redeeming element of season 4 and even that has plenty of wonky parts

Red Dwarf Series 1 to 6 - 10/10.

Just a perfect comedy. I had forgotten that the early series were basic as hell but they are still hilarious. The later series ramp up the scope but kept the hilarity.

Red Dwarf Series 7 - 4/10

Awful. The Ace Rimmer section and the Arnold Rimmer song are fantastic and some of the best things Red Dwarf ever did. But the rest is shite. Really really stinky shite.

Red Dwarf Series 8 - 5/10

It's crap but it's funnier than series 7. Holly is great throughout this series, Norman Lovett's deadpan face never fails to make me laugh.

Character order: Cat>Lister=Rimmer>Norman Holly>Hattie Holly>Kryton.

Wow, Bly Manor took a nosedive towards the end. I hated it.
