Just noticed we have a more general TV thread but no review thread like we do for films and games. I thought it might be nice to have one. Spoilers in spoiler bars, obvs. I'll get the ball rolling.

The Last Kingdom - Series 1

The missus picked this as she's a fan of all things Viking-y, and I thought it'd be gooseberry fool but it was actually really good fun. Looking forward to season 2 as soon as Netflix get their arses in gear.

7/10

Suits - Season 5

Starting to drag a bit, this. It's a shame as I still really like the characters and overall story but the sharp wit of the earlier seasons just isn't there.

6/10

Person Of Interest - Season 5

Brilliant end to this most enjoyable show. If I'm being totally honest I think the finale was slightly rushed, but I can't really think of a better way of ending things. I probably just wanted a few more episodes.

9/10

Stranger Things S2

While not as strong as the first season I still found the series compelling. Music again was fantastic and the story was just as good as the first. Didn’t care much for the new characters however the old lot didnt disappoint

8/10

Do not pre order games from Amazon!
PLAY | Final Fantasy VII Rebirth [59h]

Homeland seasons 1 & 2 - 7/10

It’s a good show but I think all the rave reviews on it made me expect it to be much better than it is. Damian Lewis is good, but he is awful at acting a smile, every time he smiles it just looks terribly fake.

First season of Homeland was strawberry floating dynamite. Shame it falls off a cliff later on though.

PoI is just awesome all the way through.

The Sopranos S3 - 9/10

Person of Interest. :datass: :datass: :datass: Rewatching all 5 seasons on Netflix.

The Deuce season 1

New HBO / David Simon. Feels like a spiritual successor to The Wire.

9/10.

Some of the TV I've watched over Xmas (pretty much all I've done as well as watching films).

Black Mirror S1, S2, S3 - 7/10 - Watched 3 episodes of Series 4 and feel a lot of the themes are sort of repeating but the earlier shows are great.

Curb Your Enthusiasm S9 - 8/10: when initially announced I thought this was going to tarnish the show, oh how I was wrong. The whole 'Fatwa' recurring theme was superb, please do more Larry! Cheryl is starting to look older now, still would though!

Dark S1 - 9/10 - My TV Show of the Year (2017), even thought the dubbing was done better than most films. Not completely flawless just afraid S2 won't live up to the amazing S1. Need more.

The Detectorists S1, S2, S3 - 8/10: Quaint, slowburn comedy. Very more-ish, almost makes me want to join a Metal Detector Club.

The Good Place S1 & S2 - 8/10: Brilliant premise, just want to know more about who makes the 'Real' decisions in this 'world' and more of the greater mysteries. Ted Danson is brilliant and the twist in S1 was class. Surprised how good Jameela Jamil is, remember her from T4!

Manhunt: Unabomber - 8.5/10: Worthington and Bettany were brilliant, just wish it wouldn't jump to different years as much.

Mindhunter S1 - 8/10: Bill Tench is the man, looking forward to how they go forward with Charles Manson (possibly) in the next season.

Peaky Blinders S4 - 5/10: This series has went downhill fast. Main Cast, Brody and Hardy were great but the story was terrible. You could watch the first episode and the last episode and miss out all the meaningless fluff in between.

QI S13 - 7/10: my interest is waning in this show, don't know if it's because I know Stephen Fry's left (I like Sandi Toksvig and prepared to carry on watching) though feel the quality is dropping in both the questions and the guests.

The Sinner S1 - 8/10: really enjoyed this, thought it may have been 1 or 2 episodes too long but the cast knocked it out of the park.

South Park S18, S19, S20, S21 - 7/10: S18-S20 were superb, S21 not so much. I liked some of the continuing themes through the series but the over reliance on Cartman, Randy and now Mr Garrison is tiresome.

Black Mirror - 9/10 - Only knocked it a point for repeating some ideas a bit too often, but otherwise it's another six distinct stories and as good as always.

3% - 9/10 - A future world where people have one chance at competing in some mysterious trials to become one of the 3% who will gain entry to a better place. Lots of great twists and pretty consistent throughout without any lulls.

Mr Robot (S3) - 10/10 - I had forgotten what happened in S2 and wasn't particularly interested in this but stuck it on when I was bored. It took no time at all to draw make back in and didn't let up at all. Not much is better than this.

I've only seen the first two episodes but I'm also not keen on the jumping back and forth, particularly as I'm not familiar with the real story.

I've started watching The Orville.
It's more Star Treky than Star Trek Discovery and is rather great.

I also watched episode One of the new BBC series Hard Sun which is interesting and I'm going to stick with it.

Hmm, this is worrying. I just finished S3 and thought it was ace. Can't believe I never watched the show for so long. Cillian Murphy.

The End of the F***king World - Missed this when it was on 4, but I'm glad it popped up on Netflix, compelling viewing. 9/10
Lovesick S3 - Maybe starting to run out of steam but still pretty damn good. 7.5/10
Travelers S2 - Fairly generic Sci-Fi, but still decent enough. 6/10
Detectorists S3 - Just a shame it had to end, best TV show of the decade. 10/10

Series 4 of Peaky Blinders is better than 3 if it helps. No gooseberry fool with Polly getting 'drawn' by some preppy moustache man. Not spoilers as irrelevant to any sort of plot.

Glacé (The Frozen Dead)

Fairly enjoyable French crime drama on Netflix. Built to a tense climax and then totally dropped the ball at the end, which was a bit of a shame. Still, worth a watch if you're stuck for inspiration.

6/10

Floribama Shore S1 - 7/10

A less entertaining version of Jersey Shore.

Upstart Crow - 6/10

Something didn't really click with me here. I like Mitchell a lot, but he just didn't grab me in this. The performances were good enough, it was okay to watch, occasionally funny. The woman who played Kate (I think?) was the best thing about it.

It was alright but it didn't do quite what I hoped it would and so yeah it meant I kind of lost interest and doubt I'll watch a second season.

Last one I watched all the way through...

The Wire - Gets better with each viewing.

Though I think my favourite series from 2017 would have to be Rurouni Kenshin. Tuned into it because the synopsis on Netflix mentioned opium and ended up staying (and watching over and over and over and over) because of the boss characters, samurai action and dope signature music.
