I just watched episode seven thinking it was the grand finale... and got a bit frustrated about how it ended.

Then I learnt that part two of season 4 (another seven episodes) is coming "later this year" :x  :toot: .

Finished watching the final episodes of season 4 last night. Hugely enjoyable! I wasn't certain about the ending but, overall, I'd rate the entire series as a [9]. Tremendously dark and entertaining.

Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty

Thought this was fantastic despite having pretty much zero interest in basketball.

9/10

Just finished Severance.

Holy gooseberry fool  it's not often you get something that starts with an intriguing mystery and not only satisfies it but then goes on to keep getting better and better.

Brilliant!

Peacemaker

Loved this, silly, doesn't take itself seriously was a joy from start to end.

Also best opening credits ever.

After years of nagging, the wife finally convinced me to start watching Grey's Anatomy with her as she's wanted to watch it for a while. I'm very loud and proud about my love of ER and how this can't compete (it can't), but it's been pretty good so far, albeit a little bit more... lightweight I guess.

But the main thing that detracts from it is the choice of background music in most scenes, it is often so off tonally that it just completely undermines itself. Serious scene with people facing life or death surgical choices? Just pop in some upbeat quirky xylophone sounds, that'll work  :fp:

6/10 so far, hopefully the music improves as the show matures, we've got 17 seasons to go so there's time :dread:

Ah my sweet Child. I have just come to the conclusion of your journey.

GA is OK, it does have some good seasons, and think it peaks about S10. By the time it gets to S17 some of it is just ridiculous. I find it really difficult to not comment when something completely ridiculous or unrealistic happens on screen, so you can imagine my GF really enjoyed the experience.

I think I prefer ER, felt more heavyweight, but I haven't seen it in years and would like to rewatch but fear it might be a bit dated. Never watched the last few seasons so they may have jumped the shark as well.

It was well before season 17 that a doctor has sex with a ghost.

What I've seen of GA I've not really liked. Seems like high-budget daytime rubbish. I'd rather watch Doctors.

ER on the other hand is strawberry floating great. Rewatched it all a couple of years ago now and while it does get strawberry floating ridiculous in places (Dropping the Helicopter on Doctor Romano was when it jumps the shark) it never gets bad.

I think it's genuinely great for five or six seasons, is really good for the next six and then slowly declines for the last three. The final few episodes are legit fantastic. Has one of the best endings to a show I've seen.

Sounds like General Hospital would be the ideal medical show for you.

The year was 1981 and Luke and Laura were the most popular pairing "General Hospital" and soaps have ever seen. After spending time on the run from mobster Frank Smith and realizing they had fallen in love, another adventure awaited their couple before their November wedding when the crazy Cassadine clan, led by Mikkos Cassadine, thought it found the key to freezing the world with a weather machine in order to achieve world domination, according to Soaps In Depth.

More soap operas should have supervillains. Superhero comics basically are soap operas as is. My previous favourite ridiculous medical plotline was this from One Tree Hill:

Ozark

9/10

This is easily in my top ten tv shows, being brilliantly acted and directed and all that, and with a story that held both together and my interest from start to finish.

The way the show maintained a weight of foreboding and imminent disaster throughout while still managing to provide some wonderful moments of levity is superb, the storyline genuinely just intriguing (straight-laced white collar family money-laundering for a Mexican drug cartel whilst living amongst the earthy residents of the Ozarks…) and, in my opinion anyway, really landed a satisfying ending (which also managed to not be an ending…).

Excellent, if you haven’t tried it out I’d highly recommend.

I called off his players' names as they came marching up the steps behind him....All nice guys. They'll finish last. Nice guys. Finish last.

Shenmue the Animation - 8/10

I enjoyed it and it was nice to see how it was done in animation.

Severence - 9/10

Holy strawberry float I loved it all, I can't wait to see the second season/second half after that ending!

It really is brilliant, but hard to reccomend to someone without totally spoiling the mystery and reveal of it.

The quality of the show varies greatly throughout it's run, as while there are some amazing stuff such as season 2's 'code black' and the finale of season 6 (which consists of moments which make you think 'holy gooseberry fool did they really just do that?'), there's also the likes of season 16 which was mostly terrible.

You can't really compare it with ER though as they're just too different (ER is the better show mind).

I explained it to the people I've recommended it to by just mentioning what the plot is that's mentioned within the first like 5 minutes of the first episode - that's all I can think of saying without spoiling it.

The bit with the goat guy had me cracking up.

YOU CAN'T TAKE THEM, THEY'RE NOT READY!

Doom Patrol Season 1 - wtf/10

I haven't really been keeping up with any of the superhero shows from either of DC or Marvel, but gave this a go after catching Peacemaker and enjoying it.

Probably one of the weirdest shows I've ever seen, in a good way. The craziness was entertaining but it was balanced with some really great character moments which kept me invested. Best karaoke scene since the Leftovers too.

Looking forward to the next two seasons.
