How the hell have I not been aware of this until now? strawberry floating brilliant.

The second season disappointed me quite a bit. But the first is absolutely cracking and it's worthy of the praise. Orlagh is the greatest thing about it.

'I don't smoke I just like melting stuff!'

Grandpa Joe is also awesome.

I've just got done with watching S2 and in all honesty it felt like more of the same to me, in a good way. I can't say I thought there was much of a drop in quality? Hopefully they've got another series in them because I'd be up for more

Series 3 has been confirmed, but will be the final one.

Ted Lasso - series 2 - 8/10

Good but nowhere near as good as series 1. That weird episode with Beard was :dread:

The Wire (S2) - 9/10
Again, better than I remembered. A bit of a slow burn but the second half is just as good as season 1.

I recently re-watched this too actually and liked it more than I remembered. Very different of course, but having seen all the seasons before it's interesting how each has a different kind of Baltimore theme- S1 the gang stuff, S2 the docks, S3 the political side of things etc - but all connected.

Ted Lasso S1 10/10
Ted Lasso S2 8/10

Season 1 was great because it was a true underdog story with redemption in the whole Ted vs Rebecca/Jamie Taart. Season 2 suferred relatively to that because it didn't have the overriding narrative and was much more an ensemble piece. I did however particularly enjoy Roy Kent. I found Nate's transformation quite jarring as it didn't seem to character, but hopefully sets up a decent season 3 as they'll be the over arching antagonist Rupert/Nate similar to S1.

I found Ted Lasso S1 amiable enough but I don't know, it all just felt a bit 'obvious' to me. Every story beat of every episode was predictable.

I sometimes wonder if after all these years I've seen so many endless variations on the same theme I've ended up being very hard to please with TV shows.

I think most people find S2 better on a rewatch, the first time I think there's an expectation that the show will continue with the gangs and the taskforce trying to bring them down and it's a bit jarring when they take a backseat to the docks storyline.

I find the sheer positivity of the Ted Lasso quite refreshing, and while the plot doesn't throw up many surprises the characters and writing remains good enough to keep things entertaining.

It was a bit "obvious" but was heartwarming and funny. I think I liked it because it wasn't trying to hard to have twists and shocks or to be different just for the sake of it.

Although the obvious thing would have been for them to avoid relegation, I'm glad they didn't do that.

Arcane - 10/10 for sheer entertainment and engagement. The story wasn't always surprising but the execution was nearly always spectacular. It barely missed a beat.

The latter-half politics was well done and engrossing but also meant that more of it was Game of Thrones-y dialogue scenes (in beautiful locales) as opposed to fantasy adventure like the opening rooftop sequence. And there was less of a focus on the Jinx/Vi dynamic as more players entered the fray. That was all less to my taste but still engrossing and the ending was fantastic.

Nearly every action scene was meaningfully different, too - with different 'mechanics' and combinations of powers/styles, instead of just More Fisticuffs. And unlike Spider-Verse which I really liked for its animation and style but never felt that pumped by its skittery, witty spider-movement, it also had the OMG NO WAY epic action moments that elevate the whole for me.

And there were basically no weak characters/performances.

I probably loved it as much as I've ever loved a TV series, I think. Can't quite believe how well it turned out, but then again I'm not at all familiar with the (well received and respected?) LoL video history and stuff.

Nate was nasty from his first appearance - he was ready to go off on Ted/Beard for being on the grass until he knew he they were

Thought that was just a standard groundsman joke. If Nate's character arc is to be a weakling who wants strength not to be able to be good, but to have power over others, I don't think it's be handled very well- however it is fundamentally a sitcom not a final rushed season of GoT

Good shout. I was also surprised by the turn. Didn't feel in character and a bit of a last minute panicked decision with regards to storyline.

Ted Lasso S2, spoilered just in case,

The thing that bugged me is how Ted and Beard, and maybe Roy, keep seeing Nate being a prick to the new locker kid but he's never called out for it or told to stop. They give their little looks when it happens but they otherwise seem pretty content for Nate to have his punching bag.

I was thinking about the same scenes just now and how maybe everything was too subtle for me to gets Nate's development (as I need flashing neon signs), I think maybe a few more scenes like that, and perghaps Nate & Ted falling out over that rather than the False 9, combined with a scene of him being a prick to a new receptionist would have just made it seem more earned.

Wheel of Time- I liked the first three episodes (some bizarre adaptation changes aside) but I'm not sure how well it would translate to someone who hasn't read the books. Did anyone else watch it?

It's not a great sign that one of the best actors has already been replaced for season 2 either.

I wasn't sure about the first episode, but enjoyed the next 2.

I have no idea if it's easy to follow for people who haven't read the books. It's all a bit rushed, I'm not sure that a non-book reader will know what's going on with all the characters and ideas.

I am ok with the changes but Perrin being married and killing his wife was bizarre. I can't see why that was at all necessary.

Regarding that change which is the worst thing in the episodes so far: some people on Reddit think she was a darkfriend. I haven't rewatched it but apparently she goes to kill Perrin with the hammer right before he spider-senses and kills her.

If anything that makes it worse.

Just onto episode 4 of Tiger King series 2, the more I’m watch the more I’m convinced this is just an overly complicated and very well acted spoof mockumentary.
