It's a hell of a set up for season 4 anyway

Season 4, if done right, will be brilliant.

Honestly, I think the show peaked with the span of episodes from the end of season 2 and the first half of season 3.

ER - S8 - 7/10

All downhill from here but goddamn Mark's exit storyline still hits me every time, especially the episode around his last shift, which over the years has been overshadowed by On The Beach and his death scene.

It's surprising how well this show has generally held up 20-25 years after it originally aired, although the very mid 90s obsession with HIV storylines is quite striking considering the very different change in overall public consciousness the disease has had.

Watchmen is fantastic but The Leftovers is better.

BEST-OF-THE-DECADE TOP TEN LISTS

This page will be updated as needed throughout the end of the year.

Last update: November 29

One problem with TV reviews: For many shows, they only reflect the first few episodes of a given season, which makes it hard to get a sense of a season (or, indeed, series) as a whole after the fact. So, to get a better read on the current consensus and the staying power of each show, we have also aggregated best-of-the-decade lists published by a variety of entertainment publications in late 2019. Individual lists are displayed at the bottom of the page, but in the table below, the most frequently mentioned shows are ranked according to our points system (which gives bonus points for being ranked at the top of a list):

3 points for each 1st place ranking
2 points for each 2nd place ranking
1 point for being ranked 3rd - 10th OR for being included on an unranked list of 10 or fewer TV shows
0.5 points for being included on an unranked list of 11-20 shows OR for being included in any position (1-10) in publications that list comedies and dramas separately (so that those publications don't skew the overall results just by virtue of publishing more than one list)
No points for shows included on unranked lists of more than 20 shows (or for shows ranked worse than 20th)

What counts as being from this decade? Breaking Bad started in 2008 and I think Parks and Recreation started in the last decade as well.

New episodes aired this decade I'd imagine.

Interested to see how that evolves as they incorporate more lists, it's not terrible at the moment but there are a few odd placings. Stuff like Schit's Creek and Bob's Burgers shouldn't be anywhere near a top list and both Saul and Bojack should be way higher.

I wasn't saying it's grade A gooseberry fool, as it's not.

But neither is it one of the 10 best shows from the last decade!

Bob's Burgers is the best mid-tier sitcom since the early Simpsons and fully deserves its place on Best of the Decade lists. It may not be a barnstormer in the way of Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul but it's consistently been one of the most amusing shows of the past decade.

Also, I reckon that Archer would've been on there if they'd stopped at season 2.

I didn't realise that "mid-tier" was good enough to a best of the decade list contender! :P

I've enjoyed what I've watched of Bob's Burgers but if I only have 10 spaces to fill with all of the shows that have come out over the last 10 years then that is a hell of a lot of time where I can find better shows. Even just limiting it to US shows.

Archer was great up until possibly season 4 I'd say, but absolutely the early stuff is the best. Sadly it is now in the territory of many US shows where there are far more bad seasons than there are good ones!

Mid-tier as in mid-budget. It's not a blockbuster, but it is excellent.

I know, that was a joke more than a genuine criticism of your point. ;)

If I've got 10 slots to fill from the last decade then that probably leaves scope for one or maybe two animated shows (based on their relative prevalence with respect to live action) - Bojack is nailed on for one of those slots being possibly the best show of the last decade, I'm just not sure I would sacrifice a second slot for Bob's Burgers personally.
