Especially after Steve Carell leaves in Season 7.
I still enjoyed it, but the peak is undoubtedly seasons 3-5.
Yeah Carell leaving is the start of the real low point and they never really recovered from it. Will Ferrell's character
I agree that there is still stuff to enjoy in the later seasons but if Jawa is already struggling at season 6 then he may not benefit from pushing on!
I think after S5 they ran out of ideas for the characters. Coupling up in sitcoms usually are bad points - so Jim and Pam getting married kind of cuts them off. Then romantic rumblings of Dwight/Andy/Angela/Erin just dragged. The introduction of the gabe character was unneeded, and it seemed he was just a very gooseberry fool Toby. Kathy Bates was really bad - it was as though her contract was just to make her seem like a bitch and not funny at all. The Ed helms character wa messed up with Hangover commitments, and i think BJ Novak, and Mindy Kaling concentrated on writing other stuff (?)
They had the right formula with the strong ensemble cast for the first 5 seasons, but after that it was torn apart and diluted and thats when it stopped working.
On a similar note, ive been watching Community, and unlike many on here, i think S4 and halfway through S5 its still good - the turning point is when Donald Glover leaves. The two replacements in S6 dont work, and although Jonathan Banks is good, hes too serious and doesnt bring the same comedy level that Chevy Chase did.
