Ted Lasso - 10/10

One of the funniest shows on TV.

Started Community, halfway through season one and the biggest thing to have aged so far is the idea that Joel McHale can dunk on Paul Rudd with such confidence.

Behind Her Eyes - 8/10
Six episodes. Starts off as your typical mystery thriller, goes a bit nuts in the second half. Some will hate the last two episodes but it ties everything together well and has a few nice surprises. I loved the second to last twist and did not see it coming, but after that it was easy to predict the ending.

Enjoyed this. First time I've engaged with this series, interesting concept, int he same way Big Brother was interesting before they began casting for ratings. Chuffed that my guy Jersey Bro won. :toot:

Will probably check out the UK series.

I just finished watching this having seen one episode of the UK one and not knowing what was going on, but intrigued by the idea.

The concept is good and there is definitely potential to make a good game and TV show, but I didn't really like it.

- Too scripted: Sean revealing her true self the day after she enters, sending images in chat when nobody else ever did, and changing her profile all screams fake. As did the episode where they pick rivals and everyone just happened to get picked once.
Also the episode where person with least votes got insta-blocked. They didn't announce it until after the votes which made me think the producers were waiting for the right person to be at the bottom before they added that twist. I think it was Bill and he didn't get a face to face chat either, so maybe he pissed someone off?

- Too much annoying screaming. All of the players scream if anything happens, no matter how small. It hurts my ears.
- They keep letting new people join the game right up until the end. I didn't mind it the first time but after that it's just pointless as they won't win.
- No strategy. All of the players were just trying to be nice. Nobody even tried to scheme or lie to give themselves an advantage.

I expect the UK one might be better, but the US one could improve if they get players willing to make moves and stir things up.

The Mandalorian - Seasons 1 and 2 (Disney+)

Superb. This is how I wanted a modern Star Wars to be; excellent presentation, great characters, a respect for history whilst developing new scenarios and - most of all - interesting stories.

Whereas the prequel trilogy and some of the new films have left me cold, these series had a real sense of Star Wars and the ability to recognise pthat "less is more"; you have to hand it to the writers and directors for knowing when and how to present and progress the story with a fine touch. We don't need to see hundreds of ships and people fighting when it can be far more effective to present a few in detail and with a careful eye.

Disney has set a very high standard for future Star Wars series. [9]

Oh, and that snapshot at the end... Boba Fett in December! :toot: .

I think of the first season of Survivor and how lacking in strategy that was. I think this would only take one player to change the way the game is played.

Tribes of Europa

Loved this. Gutted there are only six episodes. The way everything opens up as the story develops is very satisfying.

Desperately hoping for confirmation of a second series.

Wandavision - season 1 (Disney+)

I enjoyed this... I think. The setting was unusual and drew me in whilst the production values were very good indeed. I struggled a little to follow the storyline, though, and I'm not sure that I really got what was happening and why.

But it was still fun! [7]

So I just binged Mandalorian S1 and am settling into S2 and I'm really liking it but damn if it isn't the best video game adaptation not based on a video game.

Every episode is 'Another settlement needs you assistance'. Again, really liking it, but they should get John Favreau and whoever else works on this onto a Fallout series or something because every episode being a bullshit sidequest until all the friends you made along the way help you in the climactic battle would fit that so well.

I am so in for Disney Does Skyrim.

Aye we've just finished S1 of the Mandalorian, will start S2 at the weekend.

S1 was decent but not amazing - about half of the series (the middle episodes) were pretty much pointless towards the plot. Was getting pretty tired of the self-contained little eps by the time ep7 rolled around. Would probably give S1 a 7/10.

I felt the same as you (although I'd have gone with a lower rating overall) however, after the first episode, I found series 2 picked up significantly and I really enjoyed it.

I'm glad I binged it, I think I would have been more annoyed at the more standalone episodes if I had to wait weeks for more over arching story.

I think I've said this before in here but I really liked the standalone episodes. Television as a whole has massively improved as a format for storytelling because shows are now able to have season-long stories or arcs without unnecessary filler, but I still think there is a place for shows with more of an adventure of the week format, and a bounty hunter in the Star Wars universe seems perfect for that to me.

How I Met You Mother. S1-9.

Id exhausted most of the sitcoms on netflix, and this was staring at me for a while. My memory of it was a bit cringe at ted every week on ch4 or whatever it was on. Yes the first 3 episodes are cringe, Ted and Marshalls acting in them are pretty bad. But after that they really do improve, theres a bit of a refocus on Barney and the whole cast and quality of storylines are very consistent right through to the end. I think it benefits from being on demand streaming rather than waiting for a week, because theres alot of cross over and call backs. I think theres also alot of good pop culture references that are more historic and have aged well.

A great sitcom, 9/10.

Alice in Borderland - 9/10

A great thriller/sci-fi/mystery. I'm not sure how it stacks against the anime or manga but I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to season 2.
