Season 1 and 2 are by far the best in the run of community, but there is gold throughout the six seasons (ignoring S4 when it was being run by a different team).

Season 3 went off the boil to a degree for me because they doubled down too far on the "concept" episodes and general "zany-ness" of things and pulled further away from the character and relationship driven humour and storylines.

Yes the college and the people who go there were always supposed to be a bit odd but they properly jumped the shark in S3:

The Dean basically shuts down the entire school for weeks, and spends thousands of dollars abusing the students into filming an advert? Come on.

Again the entire school is basically shut down whilst all of the students engage in a days long pillow fight? Are you kidding me?

To top it all off the end to the season was just insane. A deranged Chang takes over the community college, locking the Dean in a basement for months, paying a Moby impersonator to act has his doppelganger, firing large swathes of the staff, installing OTT security mechanisms on campus, hiring a bunch of children to act as security guards, blaming the riot that started all of this on a bunch of former students, hiring another actor to attempt to discredit and deter the curiosity of those former students, and ultimately setting in place a scenario that would quite literally have blown up and/or burned down the college, and potentially killing hundreds of people. :fp: What the actual strawberry float.

There were still some great jokes in there but the story and writing was becoming too ridiculous and lazy. The "off the rails" stuff like paintball and chicken fingers in S1 worked so well because it was a foil to the more grounded elements, take those away and you were left with something far less.

Season 5 and to a greater extent 6 were better in my book as they re-grounded the show in many ways.

I mean the original. Although the show continued for another good season and a half, someone somewhere reshaped the entire series around the original paintball ep and this caused the eventual shark-jumping.

You - 8/10

I thought the hype stories about people not being able to sleep after watching it were pretty silly. I liked how they focused on the stalker's perspective with Joe's inner monologue justifying his actions and giving the audience insight into his thinking.

There were a few instances where situations played out unrealistically in order to progress the story, and the Paco sidestory was almost completely pointless.

Other than that I thought it was great and will be looking forward to series 2.

Agreed, much preferred season 1.

Some great twists and well worth a watch.

Ive just got to the end of Travelers S3. Excellent. It did leave on a fairly satisfying end note if S3 is the last season. If S4 does happen its quite literally a reboot.

You

Binged this with the wife yesterday on Netflix. Essentially, a guy that runs a book shop comes across this girl and becomes obsessed with inserting himself into her life, going to some pretty drastic and daring measures.

8/10

Sunderland ‘till I Die - 8/10

Excellent documentary on Sunderland’s season in the Championship. Despite not being a fan of the club and knowing what happens at the end, I still found myself hoping they’d survive.

I don’t think it would be one for non-sports fans but anyone with even a passing (geddit?) interest in sport/football should check it out.

Stupid, over the top, poorly acted, nonsensical and just outright daft.

I loved it.

Then get cracking on s2. Especially for that episode. In the morgue. Just make sure you aren’t drinking or eating at that moment or you’ll splutter or choke.

You - Season 1 - 8/10

I did not expect to like this based on the premise but it was surprisingly good. Quite dark but very funny in places too. When watching I couldn't get it out of my head that the main character was Dennis from Always Sunny

I had the same realisation part way though. It's almost as if You predated Sunny and they then based Dennis on Joe.

Only half way through this at the moment. It’s pretty good.

Sex Education - Netflix. Wow that was excellent, hope it’s renewed for a second series. Loved the odd mix of 80s and present day societies. The all wear 80s clothes and drive 80s cars yet they had smart phones, laptops and reference current pop culture. Then added to that it’s a hybrid British and American society. Fantastic humour and story telling to boot.

Save me some time, is Gillian Anderson smoking hot in it?

Assuming you find someone of her age bracket hot then yes.

Titans - so good. So many characters, the best batman for a long time and a billion Easter eggs. Last episode had some amazing bits, wish season 2 was out sooner.

The final post credit scene was as good as any marvel has done.

Is titans a Netflix production, so gets its first showing on there? Need to see Season 2.

It's a DC streaming service production. However since that's not available outside the USA Netflix distribution handles it outside the USA and claims it as it's own.

Season 2 is due in October from memory.

1983 - 8/10

"On Netflix, A Polish Alternate-Reality Drama Where The Iron Curtain Still Exists" Very good with some lovely performances. Pacing was decent with only 8 40min episodes. Warning: Some female nudity.

Punisher season 2. Strong start and strong ending. Good antagonists. Better than season 1.

DD1>DD3>JJ1>P2>DD2>IF2>etc

Good overall. 9/10

I've watched 4 episodes now i've enjoyed it quite a lot actually. The characters are all very likeable.

Episode 3
The abortion scene with Morrisey wailing 'Asleep' during was quite emotional.
