Yeah, we're up to episode 15 of Season 3 and... it's been a ride.

Not sure how I feel about it yet. I think a lot will depend on how they wrap it all up.

Vikings - S5

Historical inaccuracies aside I really enjoyed that.

Ivar is such an evil bastard Freydis and Thora didn't deserve such horrible deaths

By far the darkest the show has been for ages.

Also Lagertha is incredible even with grey hair

Finished this a few weeks ago, really enjoyed it. Could have done without the Loki Iceland subplot- thought that a bit tedious and dull.

I still think about the end daily over a year later. It has stuck with me.

Black Sails, a truly fantastic piratical TV series (I'm sorry I ever pooh-poohed it) and a perfect prequel to Treasure Island, which I now desire a Black Sails-y retelling of.

Wow, what strawberry floating series. Short, sharp episodes where no screentime is wasted and writing so smart and clever it actually makes me angry. Throw in an amazing performance from Natasha Lyonne and beautiful cinematography and you've a winner.

strawberry floating perfect.

Completely agree, watched the whole thing in one sitting; fantastic series.

Just finished episode 17 of Twin Peaks season 3, and it hit me real strawberry floating hard.

I did not expect them to go down the time travel route at all, but the way it was done actually made me really emotional.

The crux of Twin Peaks has always been Laura Palmer, and the trauma resulting from her abuse. A lot of the original series, and even Fire Walk With Me, could be read as an allegory, that all of the supernatural stuff is simply a narrative device to mask the terrible reality of Laura's situation. Although I've been loving season 3, I feel that it left that behind somewhat to concentrate on an exploration of the very literal duelling worlds of the fiction's universe.

Episode 17 regained some of that emotional weight. Simply seeing Sheryl Lee's amazing performance in FWWM hit hard, but Cooper's "We're going home" had me welling up something proper.

Then of course, because it's Lynch, something goes wrong... which cues up the finale.

Taking a break for a few hours then we're going to get the whole thing over with.
EDIT: Also, the final showdown with BOB was just...terrifyingly brilliant.

I wasn't too keen on that either, I'm interested about the christian grave Floki found inside the cave though, that 'cup' he picked up looked like the Holy Grail.

My biggest disappointment with the Iceland subplot was that they killed off Aud, she was by far the most interesting character there, besides Floki.

Just finished episode 18.

Biiiiiig wtf from me.

After the rather more conventional wrapping up performed by Episode 17, of course Lynch couldn't let that stand. Cue an incredibly frustrating episode that seemed to revel in its lack of coherence and its long, drawn-out shots of nothingness.

I missed a lot of details from this series. I missed the fact that Sarah Palmer was inhabited by JUDY all along. I missed that there was some serious timeline shenanigans going on from the very start... but I still enjoyed the ride. The final episode was perhaps one of the more simplistic of the whole series, largely consisting of driving sequences, but I found it annoying and nonsensical. Cooper finding a misplaced Laura Palmer, misplaced by his own hand while trying to save her, was all well and good. Even Cooper possibly returning to the wrong time whilst trying to re-united Laura and Sarah Palmer... fine. But the bizarre way the entire series ended, with a scream and a blackout, was unsatisfying and cheap.

After having read what actually happen, in a summary of Mark Frost's book, there's some closure but the series as written, for me, ended on a huge disappointment.

Oh well...

The Umbrella Academy. Netflix 10 episodes.

Really good. Good sound track. Funny. The storyline flows, and is well paced, and coherent throughout, a good feeling of suspense. 10/10.

I enjoyed it more than Titans. Definitely better than Defenders. Its got a bit of a Heroes/X-men vibe about it.

Good ending - massive cliff hanger with a good few unanswered questions. Leaves a season 2 wide open, but would be very satisfying if it was just left there.

Im surprised no one else on here has mentioned it?

I loved the end, it's such a thinker, but I agree most of the last episode was quite a slog to get through.

Anyone here watch Catastrophe? It's a comedy/drama thing on C4 starring Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney and is surprisingly great. The wife had watched the previous series and got me into it over the last few weeks as there was a new series recently.

I was worried it would be more of the usual shite that she watches, like when she convinced me that watching Gilmore Girls would be a good idea and I think I lost about 25% of my brain function as a result of exposure to that show, but this is really good!

Currently up to the end of S3 and looking forward to watching S4, ratings so far:

S1: 8.5/10
S2: 7.5/10
S3: 9/10

12 Monkeys

I just finished the series after buying the series 4 blue ray and watching again from the start and after a week of pretty solid watching (I've been on holiday) it's over and I have zero regrets  .

Anyone with even a passing interest in Sci-Fi should watch this as it's strawberry floating amazing with some truly great characters and an emotionally powerful story about trying to stop the end of the world via time travel. Why the Sci-Fi channel didn't market the pants of this I have no idea as (I don't say this lightly) it really is up there with Star Trek: TNG and Battlestar Gallactica in quality. Have a look at the Reddit to see what people think.

Easy 10/10 and I say again if you've never considered it or not heard of it please give it a chance (Season 1-3 are on Netflix) as you honestly won't regret it.

It's one of my favourite shows. The writing is top notch.

Series 4 is excellent. You're going to love it if you liked 3.

Tin Star series 2. Very enjoyable, but I wasn't sure if in the final episode whether it was Liverpool or the cartel they were fighting.

The Punisher S2 - A solid if unspectacular series - definitely somewhere in the middle of the pack in terms of Netflix Marvel series. There were good moments and I do like some of the supporting characters but I just find Frank a rather dull, one-dimensional protagonist compared to Matt Murdock or Jessica Jones. Wrapped things up quite nicely though. 6/10

How does it compare to the film? As one of my favourite films and with one of the best time travel plots ever written, I'm very wary of watching the show and getting angry at it

It's different to the film but in a good way as obviously the film needs to be finished in a couple of hours.
The same basic plot of the virus wiping out most life on earth with the remainder being in underground facilities with scavengers on the surface is the same with the main story taking place at various places back in time.
I really feel the marketing for this series has done it a massive injustice as it's honestly amazing and I think you'll really like it but Sci-Fi channel are rubbish at getting the word out.

I'd be interested to see if you do like it as much as I did if you do give it a chance but as it's on Netflix and if you have that there's no harm in trying.
The series get's better and better from series onward and by series 3 is really bringing in some old faces like James Callis (Baltar from Gallactica), Conleth Hill (Varys from Thrones), and Christopher Lloyd (Doc Brown from Back to the Future) all having decent parts to play.

The main villain is great and there's a crazy woman who's a main character who really does a fantastic job of being insane but likeable.
