Now I'm a few eps in, I see why I forgot it.

It's a huge step down from season 4, likely due to it moving away from the books and fitting it's own path. I'm just finding large swaths of it to be super dull.

Mindhunter - really good. Fincher’s fingerprints are all over it! 9/10. I hope season 2 keeps up the high standard. No idea why it took so long to watch it.

Yep, it's a pretty poor season. Hardhome is still great though, and it's not as incoherent and messy as Season 7.

Yeah, I'm really not enjoying this season at all. It's taken all the headline features from the first 4 seasons (sex, violence and shock factor), amped them up and left behind everything that actually made it good (intrigue, narrative, characters).

The Sansa stuff is unforgivably bleak, even compared to the first and second series, Tyrion is wasted, Bran is strawberry floating absent and Danys' stuff is just a repetition of themes from season 3.

I hear it only gets worse from here so, you know, got that to look forward to.

Killing Eve.

Jeez, it was bloody brilliant and Villanelle is such a fantastic character. What a performance by Jodie Comer. Can’t wait for the season two. :toot:

I'm now up to date with American Gods. I loved the book and think they've done a good job translating it to the small screen. So far 8/10

Castlevania S2 - 7/10; enjoyed this better than the first season and looking forward to more. The fight and action scenes were very cool.

Homecoming S1 - 8/10 - from the creator of Mr Robot starring Julia Roberts about US Army Men coming home for whatever reason and their rehabilitation back into Civilian Life but with a few twists and turns :D
Good drama with episodes less than 30 minutes; a good binge watch.

Game of Thrones season 6 episode 10

strawberry float that noise. Cersei blowing up the sept was a cheap and nasty way to resolve some genuinely interesting plot points. The conflict between church and state was becoming something genuinely fascinating, the sparring between Cersei and Marjory was unresolved, the High Sparrow was a character that felt like he was just getting started. Cersei herself was on a decent trajectory, from a trope ridden femme-fatale to a paranoia ridden mess. But nope, now she's a Machiavellian super-villain.

strawberry floating nonsense.

I always looked at The High Sparrow and his devout followers as GoTs Jeremy Corbyn and the Corbynites.

Joking aside, Cersei's character is becoming increasingly annoying. She seemingly has absolutely no idea of what she's facing even with absolute proof given right before her eyes.

This was always her character to me; someone hugely out of her depth who thought she was smarter than them all. My problem is that with the above, it reset the threat she wasn't aware of from the High Sparrow to Dany with no subtlety or nuance. It was just so strawberry floating lazy.

Indeed. Even now she thinks current events is an ideal opportunity to 'outsmart' her opponents, utterly oblivious to the reality of the threat at her doorstep.

The Tick Season 2 8/10- Better than the 1st season, really enjoy it. Would thoroughly recommend it. Has anyone else watched it?

Onto GoT S07e02 and they just did exactly the same thing to Theon that they did with Cersei, essentially hitting the reset button on an arc that was already concluded.

Cersei: spends the first 5 seasons unaware of the seriousness of the threats around her whilst thinking herself a chess master. As she learns her lesson, her past deeds come back to haunt her. Reset by her simply blowing up everyone against her like a strawberry floating Bond villain.
Theon: From arrogant whelp to tortured slave back to respectable member of the Greyjoys. Reset by him returning to his Reek persona and leaving his sister to die, again. Progress of arc reset to the middle of season 3, again for no reason.

So bad.

What this highlights is how overrated Martin is as an author.

As far as we know Martin didn’t write any of those plots, the TV series went far ahead of the books a long time ago.

Narcos Seasons 2 & 3 - 9/10

Season 2 was fantastic, season 3 a bit shitter (no Pablo  ) but still great.

Going to have a break from the world of narcotic smuggling before I move onto Mexico.
