I find Sheldon so horrible it it goes way past knowing he has societal mental issues and just makes him into a twat.
I honestly don't know why anyone would choose to live with someone like him no matter how smart he is.

The fact I also find the humour completely unfunny doesn't help and the canned laughter at everything anyone says is really jarring.

I've only really watched a bit of BBT. Mostly as something in the background when I was having dinner or something and it was on TV. It seems quite safe and comfortable, so I can see why it's popular, but it did nothing for me. I found the characters quite...horrible. The blonde woman just seemed to be a an arsehole, have nothing in common with anyone, and yet (I think) was married to one of them? :slol: . It also played up to literally every cliche of nerd culture you could think of.

Still...better than 2 and a half men.

Anyway, I've been rewatching Futurama as it's on Amazon Prime. I've not seen it in a long time, but it's still so good  I've not really seen much of the newer seasons, so I'm intrigued about those.

The Expanse – Season 3 – 10/10

I heard Amazon had picked up the series after it was cancelled, but I only realised last week that they had Season 3 up. If you loved the first 2 seasons then you should love this one, more of the Earth/Mars/Belter politics with added protomolecule madness.

Ooh nice, didn't realise it was on prime! That's going onto my list of to rewatch soon.

The original four seasons are pure gold. I've definitely watched the first "new" season and it was okay but not great - not sure if the later stuff picked back up again.

I'm currently watching "Sex Education" on netflix.

It's interesting and somewhat humorous. However, I can't figure out what date it's set in. Perhaps that doesn't matter? Also, the school was nothing like my time at sixth form.

I really enjoyed it but the setting is weird. It’s obviously modern day as they are using smartphones, but it feels like it is set in the 70s or 80s. And it is very British while looking very American. It’s quite clever really.

The first season is the weakest so if you like it already I think you'll love seasons 2,3 and 4 :D .

Katarina Jones really does start to shine in later series as does Jennifer Goins.

It really is a rather well hidden gem of a show  .

Just got up to S2E8 Lullaby. Really good episode. - best one so far. Im hoping Netflix pick up S4 before i get to the end of S3, they dropped S1 a couple of days ago.

Cobra Kai. Way, way, better than I was expecting. Couldn't believe how much I enjoyed it. Genuinely really entertaining. Thought it was just a guilty pleasure and then I saw it has 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, so maybe it wasn't just me.

If you grew up loving Karate Kid, and still love it even though it's a bit gooseberry fool, then I can't recommend it enough.

10/10.

Edit: just trawled the thread to see if it's been mentioned before. It has. 8-)

Karate Kid is one of my favourite movies of all time and Cobra Kai was everything I could ever possibly want from something like this. Oh my god it was so strawberry floating hype!

Never a truer word spoken (written). An absolutely wonderful bit of TV that treats the source material with huge respect and is genuinely funny in a really good-natured way. Johnny Lawrence is a bloody brilliant character too.

I was expecting some seriously low-budget guff from Cobra Kai but it is probably the most enjoyable TV show I've watched in a decade, if not longer.

Time Travelling Bong - There's only one series at the moment and that is only 3 episodes long.

But, it's hilarious, as long as you don't take it too seriously.

The Haunting of Hill House.

Not bad with a few genuine scares, but not many. Don't think it warrented being told over 10 45min episodes though. Dragged in places.

Louis Theroux: Miami Mega Jail: I'm genuinely shocked at the sheer brutality and more so by the fact that it is known about and pretty much accepted. Many of those guys appeared to be acting the way they do due to some form of "code" but their souls just seemed dead. It's hard to imagine that they could change their thinking when they're locked up with others who have that same kind of thinking; or worse. There doesn't seem to be any easy answers.

Race Across The World.

Saw the first episode sunday night on BBC2, it's a really neat twist compared with most TV travel shows in which several teams of two race against one another to make it to a specific point via any non-air travel means. The first episode had them tasked with getting from London to Greece and what followed was a really enjoyable hour long trip across europe.

Will definitely be watching episode 2 in which they will need to get from the Greek hotel (which acted as a checkpoint) to Baku in Azerbaijan.

Sorry, I should have mentioned I was watching on German Amazon Prime. Not sure if it's on the UK one, but I doubt it sadly.

Yeah, the first 4 are absolutely brilliant. The newer ones seemed ok, but nothing special. Certainly watchable though. One theme I forgot about in Futurama is the constant moments when someone thinks someone has died for a few minutes  . Seems to have happen once every few episodes.

In the US there's a really rather ugly masculine culture by some of being the ultra hard man and not giving a gooseberry fool about anyone else.
The republicans take pretty much the same stance just without the violent bit (although they're really slow to condemn violence by republicans when it does happen) and they seem to think anyone who doesn't agree with them is a pussy and unAmerican.

They will happily chuck people in prison for even minor offences or even just being on bail and subject them to horrific and demeaning conditions (the judges are elected and many get elected for being as tough on crime as they can be) and then being amazed when it doesn't turn them into model citizens.

Cloak and Dagger -7/10

Not familiar with the comic its based on so I probably enjoyed it more than die hard Marvel fans would (I hear they changed a few things to be a bit more PC). Was a little on the slow side and definitely intended for a teen audience but it's decent enough to watch all 10 episodes over a weekend.

Was going to give it 6/10 but gave an extra point for the actress playing the role of Tandy/Dagger :datass: :shifty:

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt – Season One – 4/10

I thought this was supposed to be good, but I have a horrible suspicion that it was something Frank liked. :dread: Titus is amusing and stops it getting 1/10, but the rest of it is pretty dreadful. Maybe it gets better in the later seasons, but I can’t say I am interested enough to find out.

And that explains why it’s so gooseberry fool.

The Umbrella Academy - Netflix - 7.5/10

Solid but ultimately slightly disappointing super hero action. I've never read the comics so have no idea how authentic this is to the original source material, but it's a fun enough series that I would recommend to fans of the genre.

I'd say it drags a little and could have done with some tightening up, either in cutting the episodes to 45 mins or maybe dropping from 10 to 8 or 9 episodes in total. They establish some interesting characters and relationships but don't necessarily take that much advantage of these in the current run which is a shame, but bodes well for future development I guess. The ending is a bit of a let down but does set things up well for a second series.

This all sounds like I think it's a bit gooseberry fool but just to be clear I really enjoyed it for the most part!
