I don't trust Lindeloff at all (he's an exceptional writer that cannot write conclusions) but this is an excellent start.

The Leftovers' ending was good.

I still need to watch that.

The Leftovers or the ending? The Leftovers is a masterpiece.

The series. I've heard good things but after the car-crash of Lost I put off watching any show by Lindeloff

A decade later and Taf is still angry about Lost.

Lost's finale was great. The final season as a whole less so.

I gave up on Lost at S2, clear they didn't have a clue and that it would have zero chance of a satisfying ending even at that point!

Everything after season 3's mid-season break was pure pish. There was a great interview with one of the writers on season 2 who confirmed that they had no answers for any of the mysteries they created (the monster was vaguely something to do with the spirits of dead islanders for example) and the whole thing was laying tracks in front of a moving train.

But I watched it. Fooled myself it might be leading somewhere.

Idiot.

S1-4 was excellent. S5 was disappointing.

Don't get me started on S6.

I loved Lost 1-5. It will always hold a special place in my heart.

Series 6 is a god-awful, monstrous abomination, except for the final two episodes.

I still remember the time you proclaimed S5 to be the best season!

I re-watched Lost about 5 years ago with someone who never watched it before and we lost interest around late season 5 / early season 6. It was very enjoyable until that point, but it was nothing compared to watching as they were released; it was the first show that got me into download TV shows online due to the gap between US and UK air dates, and being part of the community here that discussed each episode and analysed every detail drew me in further. Reading the theories and thoughts was fascinating to me, and the mystery of it all really drew me in. That really added something to the experience, and while I've enjoyed some TV shows more than I did Lost I've never got that caught up with the lore of one since in the same way(perhaps partly due to Lost burning some of that good will, and it came out when I was still studying so had the time to actually indulge in such fan theories, and there's a much larger quantity of great TV these days, and I never watch things weekly as they come out anymore (if they even come out weekly) - it was a perfect storm, in fact by my current standards I would hate all the filler episodes, but at the time I was so hooked I just took that as part of it's slow mystery).

 that must have been so long ago now.

It was my favourite one at the time. Re-watching it years later (years ago now) I recall my opinion shifting towards the earlier series. I do still love all of it, though, except the aforementioned monstrosity of series 6.

This sounds identifical to my experience. It aired when I was at Uni, and downloading and watching the latest episode, then debating and reading online reaction became a weekly ritual.

I think the most disappointing thing for me was most TV shows don't have an ending in mind because they don't know how long they're going to get. A lot of shows I used to enjoy would have 3 or 4 good seasons and then drag out and get dull because they'd constantly have to reinvent new situations with the characters. With Lost, there was a feeling they knew where they were going and it was going to have a huge finale and satisfying conclusion. Obviously in retrospect that was a little naive and clearly wrong in the end, but it was very frustrating.

It was obvious so early on that they didn't have a strawberry floating clue what they were doing!

I genuinely enjoyed S1 of Lost, it was a compelling show with an intriguing mystery, but my internal bullshit meter just became impossible to ignore as S2 progressed and so I ditched it sometime around the 2/3 boundary.

I remember the specific moment the spell broke and I was just like, this is bullshit. It was when Jack and Ben took a walk up to the top of a hill to reveal they were standing on a completely separate, second island.

It's not a particularly bizarre reveal, nor was it unbelievable, but something about the way it was done made it crystal clear no-one had any idea what the strawberry float was going on and we'd never get any satisfying answers to any of the mysteries.
