Yeah The Good Place should be applauded for actually embedding the philosophical themes directly into the fabric of the show itself, managing to use this to fundamentally drive both the narrative and the humour.

It's the exact opposite prospect to something like Big Bang Theory which just uses science and geek subculture as set dressing for its painfully dull and uninspired US sitcom by-the-numbers fare.

Living With Yourself - 7/10

Quite enjoyed this, it wasn’t the out and out comedy I was expecting though!

I'm still not convinced it's this brilliantly intelligent show... it feels very much a guilty pleasure.

Couple of really good articles there on how philosophical conceits power the entire show, and how the complexities of each is taught to the viewer through farce and absurdity.

It absolutely shouldn't be a guilty pleasure, it's one of the best shows in a decade.

Interesting. I'm certainly happy to have my fondness backed up by this sort of evidence!

I do wish they would tone down the Justin (dumbass) and Tahani (name-dropping socialite) jokes that have been running since the beginning. Some of them do hit to an extent, but that's because there are literally five of each per episode (I wish I was exaggerating)!

Completely agree with the praise for Ted Danson. He is simply marvelous.

Aisling Bea :datass:

Pretty much my thoughts. I went in expecting zany double Paul Rudd hi-jinks but they actually did a solid job of telling an interesting and, relatively, deep story.

Also 100% agreement on Aisling. :datass:

Not a huge fan of the shift in storyline, setting and key characters in later half of season 3. Much preferred the multi sided political shenanigans and gambits

I see where you're coming from but also Miller comes back sort of and he is the best character

It's a hell of a set up for season 4 anyway

Miller is the Expanse equivalent of Rorschach.

Miller is ok but I could have done without his character coming back.

Miller is such a contradictory character, which is why I like him. An authorative figure who is physically weak. A cynic who believes in doing the right thing. A corrupt official willing to sacrifice himself for others. He becomes a folk hero to the people he helped oppress. The similarities and differences to Holden make for an interesting contrast.

Also I like the actor and he has a cool hair cut?

Living With Yourself - 8/10

Enjoyed this, satisfactory ending too.

Expanse S3 done - second half/story arc was pretty rubbish and the finale was just bad. Still looks like we’re moving on now

Finished the first two eps of The Mandalorian.

It's very slow.

Yeah, episode 2 in particular was incredibly slow. Still enjoying it so far though.

I have spoken.

Yeah, I'm enjoying it, but I can't help feeling it should have been hour long episodes rather than 30 minutes.

Episode 5 of Watchmen done and jesus this might be the best TV show in a decade. It's genuinely remarkable, managing even to do justice to the Squid drop. What a strawberry floating shot that was.
